During the summer, a lot of people decide to go on a road trip. Long days and warm weather provide perfect conditions for this kind of trip, the only problem is deciding what type of car should you buy or rent for long-range adventures. The ideal solution for long-range road trips is an RV, but not a lot of people have a driving license for them and they’re pretty expensive to rent. That’s why you need to pick a car that is comfortable, durable and has economical fuel consumption.
Before we get into the list of top 10 cars, we need to talk about what makes a car good for long trips. The first thing you should look for, when picking a car for this purpose, is your comfort. If you’re going to spend few days on the road, your ride should be as smooth as possible. That’s why a good suspension and a lot of space are very important for long road trips. If you’re going with two or more persons on this trip you should consider cars with bigger trunk space.
The second thing is performance. Long travels, mountain roads, constant gear switching can take a toll
on your car. Because of this, you should consider getting a durable car that can withstand the pressure of long distance trips without breaking. The condition of your engine, tires, brakes, etc. is vital. Don’t forget to take your car for a
full service before your trip. All of your car parts that are prone to breaking down should be replaced with new ones or fixed.
The last crucial thing for this type of travel is fuel consumption. Sports cars are comfortable and offer the best performance, but they often spend twice the amount of fuel than ordinary cars. You should consider something that’s fuel efficient but doesn’t lose much on performance and comfort, like hybrid cars or cars with diesel engines.
Now that we have in mind what type of car we should be looking for, here’s a list of top 10 cars that check all the boxes above and are ideal for long-range road trips, in no particular order.
