Decorated Tree on Nullarbor
You can find anything you want here Well once again we have crossed the Eyre Highway and Nullarbor. We loved it as much this time as the first. Actually I believe you would never tire of the drive across OZ. There is so much to see and do. The rustic scenery is wonderful (No roos, No emus, No camels, No wombats- bugga) and the characters you meet along the way is great. The views of the Great Bight are breath taking even though we were too early to see any whales. Every night that we pull into a bush camp we are joined by others within an hour or so. We have never had a night on our own. We have met some wonderful people and some weirdish people long the way. That has really been a highlight of the trip - the people. We have run into many people from our area, with the closest being from Cardiff, only 3 minutes by car from our home. There are 5 Royal Flying Doctor Service raunways along the Eyre Highway. It was great to learn a bit more about how people live out here. We saw a funny sight yesterday. Three aborginals walking to the local pub and old
Diane at another tree
Di looking for a bargain. mamma was pushing an empty wheelchair which we believe would be used to transport old pappa home later in the night. Their home was an old humpie under a large gum tree. Hitchhiker - yes we picked up a hitchhiker for about 12 hours. He was friendly enough and only ate our bread. We called him Mickey after Mickey mouse. Thankfully he has gone now. All along the highway is trees decorated with anassortment of things. From TV's, osters, Hey I have to tell you all, Rodger can now hitch the van (first attempt) without me. Should I worry??????? Is he planning to leave me on the side of the road???? Probably. Today (Sunday 15th May) we arrived in Ceduna - SA and have booked in for 2 nights here. We would have liked to stay longer but they are booked out. Our site over looks the water. It is lovely except for the high wire fence between us and the waterfront. Rodger has been down to the jetty to fish again. He caught 2 fish, but had to throw them back. Gawd, when will I get a feed of fresh fish. Probably have to wait for John or Jeff
Rodger adding his bit to tree
A string of beer cans, a wine bottle and an empty milk bottle. to catch them. OK, better go now and have a shower, shampoo etc. (we are back in civilisation so I better spruce up a bit) then we off to the local for dinner. They have a 3 course meal deal for only $18. Soup, roast of the day and dessert. So we are dining out tonight. Also can I add that the local is only 40 metres from our van. So I wont need a wheelchair for Rodger, I will just roll him along. Oh, btw, Ceduna is reknowned for its oysters, so I will be feasting on oysters for the next 2 days. I am in 7th heaven. Bye for now and luv to all. Di and Rodg.
