I was the first to get up and go on deck at 5.30am - it was just getting light and i sat and watched the sunrise - it was so peacefull and the colours were beautiful, pinks and lilacs, it was quite magical.
The rest of the crew got up at about 7am - 7.30 so i had a couple of hours all alone to read my book and day dream 😊
Kenny made the most magnificent brekkie and just to add to the perfct picture a turtle popped his head up and said hello !!!!
Off we sailed to Whitsunday Tongue bay and again pure white sand, rob took us on a walk through lots of forrest type areas to see lots of anmals and creepy crawlies. Fisrt stop was at a tree where he picked up a green tree ant and strated to lick its bottom !!! YES you have read correctly lick the ants bum, it tastes sour he said and invited us to have a go, As it was april fools day the next day i did have my doubts, but hey when in Rome ..... so i grabbed an ant off the tree held
it and licked it bum .....true enuff it did have a destinctive dour taste. so after sexually abusing a green tree ant each we all carried on our walk !!!
There was a Goana strolling along the side of us (he was about 24 inches in length) so lots of phots there. Then we saw sting rays, and a reef shark in the water. A Golden orb spide in his web, HUGE guy. As we returned to the beach there were dozens of black and white butterflies all around us, they looked like paper doylies and Rob said they were called Ulisis. Back on board for lunch ...... hell its hard work this sailing lark !!!!
Then it was time to put us to work, we all helped to put up the sails - really good team work and then we were truly sailing !!!! no engine noise and we got to the grand speed of 6.2 knots (6MPH) and we sailed 30 miles.
Andrew is a good sailor and took the wheel for a couple of hours and really enjoyed himself - the rest of the passangers where sooooo exhausted we all fell asleep on various parts
of the deck !!!
We moored at Caves Cove and went for a refreshing swim in dark turquoise still waters,
dinner time was upon us ....... again amazing Roast pork, roast pots, honey carrotts, butter nut squash which was all delicious, and then we had to eat a chocolate fondu with mountains of fruit and shortbread - it was hell !!!!!!
there were soooo many jokes being told it was like the Michael McIntyre show !!!!
Rob showed off his bucket fishing that looked easy but was vertually imposible for the rest of us.
OH yes i have become a real sailor today, I have stopped calling the front end of the boat the point bit and i now say words like
Bow = the front
stern = the back
port = left side
starboard = right
mid ship = middle
galley = kitchen
head = toilet
plus signs in the water that mean - north , south , east and west !!!!
so all in all just call me Ellen McCarffy !!!!!
So bed time at 10.15pm tonight xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
