Yesterday we traveled across the north island to the Kauri Museum.

It is a museum dedicated to the giant kauri tree. These old giants, many who

were thousands of years old were harvested for ship building, furniture. The

few that are left are protected. The wood is extemely beautiful and very hard.

Sort of a lighter color walnut. We had rain across the north island yesterday.

Today is better but windy. We do get the news about "sandy" .

A few images from the museum

Click on them brings up more.

What beautiful wood and so huge! The museum looks very interesting. The pictures you have sent of your views are fabulous. So glad you are in a lovely place and you both look wonderful! Hope those storms don't harm anyone, but sure doesn't look good! Love you, Sharon
