Day 11 – Thursday 24th of March

Yet another sleep in. We blame all the good food we’re having!

The Kiwi bird life sanctuary was where our morning started. This was a self guided tour with the assistance of a digital audio device and headphones. Such a cool idea, we definitely think Auckland Zoo should invest in them. The Kiwis were neat; we even got to see a feeding of them and learnt a few cool facts. They have a female and male in each Kiwi house for breeding purposes. In the Kiwi house we were in the female was really playing up to the crowd by running up and down the side of the glass, jumping, knocking her head against the glass and scratching her feet in the grass. All normal courtship behaviour apparently. Thankfully we don’t have to display these behaviours anymore. Yay for married life!

Wine was on our minds so next we drove out to Gibbston Valley Vineyard. We had a scrummy lunch and then took a wine tour through their famous wine-cave. With a few bottles in hand we left.

Before returning into Queenstown we stopped at AJ Hackett’s Kawarau Bridge to

look at the crazy people bungy-jumping off the bridge. While fun to watch, you couldn’t have paid us to jump.

After having so much fun yesterday, we decided to return to the Luge for another 5 rides. Hehe.

Then it was into town for more wine tasting at Wine Tastes, where we sampled some new wines and have even shipped a few home. Daddy hands off, well, at least until we’re home and can share them with you!

This is how messy it gets when anchored to one location. Driving from place to place makes us keep it tidy, otherwise stuff goes flying about the cabin
