Auckland to Palmerston North: April 24-29 Having finished up at TVNZ on Friday, April 20, and winding up our flat in Balmoral that weekend, I headed south for a two week stint around New Zealand visiting friends and family before my OE departure. First stop was Palmerston North, where I stayed with Karen Radley and her fiance Lee in their very chic house in Kelvin Grove. (Thanks K!) Had a great time chilling out and catching up with friends from Palmy Girls. Was nice to relax after a busy time sorting everything out in Auckland. Even had my first Singstar experience. I was awesome of course... Was also great to see my grandparents as it was hard to get down to Feilding from Auckland to see them. ... read more

An diesem herrlichen Sonn(en)tag haben wir einen kleinen Ausflug in den stadtbekannten Park von Palmerston North, meiner ach so geliebten Studienstadt, gemacht. Der Park strotzt nur so vor schönen Naturereignissen, wie auf den Bilder unschwer zu erkennen ist. Außerdem haben wir es uns nicht nehmen lassen mit der kleinen "Kinder"-Eisenbahn (ich glaube wir waren die einzigen Erwachsenen, die keine Kinder dabei hatten) durch den Park zu donnern. An diesem Tag wurde in dem Park darüber hinaus eine Art "Stadt(Dorf)-fest" veranstaltet, weshalb einige der grössten Bands und Schausteller des ganzen Landes hier auftraten, um der Stadt ihre Ehre zu erweisen. ... read more

I can't believe I will be leaving for the south island of New Zealand soon, time has gone so fast yet I am so glad that I've done everything I wanted to...oh, except for the Tongariro Crossing which I would need alpine and mountaineering experience for! I think I will do it when I am over here in summer months... Still, we did a nice walk up to a lookout of Tongariro National Park. It was so strange being surrounded by snowcapped mountains, (one being Mt Doom from Lord of the Rings) I can't wait for that in the south island... So, since jumping out of a plane I have only done one other extreme activity, I know I'm slacking..ahaha... I went on the longest, fastest and highest flying fox!
