Welcome to Fiji
The Fiji women rugby team is formidable.. From New Zealand Fiji was just a 4.5 hr flight, but heading north again to the warmer climates. Fiji is made up of over 300 Islands, and I flew into the main airport Nadi on the Island of
Vita Leva.
I had been told leave Vita Leva ASAP, but the guys I had travelled here from NZ had booked a hotel on the south coast, a place called
Beach House on the
Coral Coast, so I decided to tag along with them.
It was a 3hr bus ride along the coast from the airport to Coral Coast. The place was fantastic, but what was a bit weird was that we found out that the Hotel had been used for
Celebrity Love Island II !! The Diary room or what ever it had still had the one way windows and everything!! They had since added extra buildings including the dorm rooms we were staying at!
Right on the beach with palm trees and a remote desert Island feel the weather was the only down side, with rain every day of the three nights I stayed on Love Island II. Luckily we were able to entertain oursleves with the
Beach House - Bounty island
Cocktail waiter, serving up some more Carva! local drink which tasted of muddy water called
Carva, Texas Holden and cheap beers.
As I only had 5 nights in Fiji I wanted to at least go to one of the Islands. After brief bit of research found out that
Mamanuca Group of Islands were both nearer to the airport (Nadi) and had better weather than Vita Leva. Again setting off on my own on my travels I got a boat from the mainland that went all around the Mamanuca Island group before dropping me off on
Bounty Island.
This Island got it name from some of the survivers from the original ship bounty apparently landed up on shore on this Island. Bounty like most of the Fiji Islands was pretty small and I was able to walk around it in about 30 mins, with only one resort on the Island. What did I find out when I arrived.................... Didn't guess it? That Celebrity Love Island was fillmed here!! Was a bit different from the first, as where the "Love Shack" on the first was still intact on this Island it had been totally trashed!! At least the pool had suvived, and they moved this next to

Can see the podium where they televised the results! the beach resort.
The weather here was great and used the next couple of days chilling, enjoying the good food and watching the opening games of the rugby world cup with the Rugby mad Fijians (though had to get up at 3:55am for Englands opener against USA). Before I knew it it was back to the mainland and on a plane to Hawaii.
