Saturday 26th February – Fiji Bound Packed up the van and left it in Auckland, to fly out to the beautiful Fiji islands: Fiji Time – As we fly into Fiji, we realise that time starts to warp in a strange island way. The bus to the village might be here some time, or maybe we’ve missed the last one – who knows! Express Bus – A crowded two hour bus trip in pitch black with rain lashing down is only partially lifted by the film (Universal Soldier) with soundtrack reverberating throughout the bus. Homestay – Finally the bus stops and disgorges us into the hands of our host, Sake and then the wonderful Fijian feast prepared by his lovely wife Toupoe. After completing my 'round the world' trip in 10 months, I spent a few months back at home resting my travel weary bones. I satisfied my family and friends craving and also got plenty of fun summer activities under my belt. Sadly, I discovered my cat Timmy became a bit moodier and less loving towards me, but what can you expect when I abandoned him for so long? I felt spoiled staying at my mom's newly finished house with cupboards full of food and comfortable big beds to sleep in. By the time my plane departed back to Australia, I was antsy to be traveling again. I spent the next 7 months on the west coast of Australia living in my campervan and working at a winery where I made amazingly good money ($18 per hour!!!) ... read more

So Musket Cove has its quirks... When I got in the other day I was immediately ambushed by mosquitos. Definitely need to load up on bug spray here! There are also these little brown frogs hoppin' around everywhere that I don't think are doing a very good job at eating these mosquitos. So cute yet so useless! The beach here is interesting too- The water is not very clear as there seems to be some type of algae growing from the ocean floor that I don't particularly enjoy stepping in. You can see it during low tide when all the water disappears from the cove, also not totally ideal. Guess that's why they put a huge swimming pool right behind it.
