Friday afternoon, we all piled into the car, packed with surfboards, luggage, food, beer and wine - Destination Manyana. 3 hours drive south of Sydney, just past the Sussex inlet turn off lays a little sleepy town called Manyana. If you have time there are some great stops along the way. Our first stop was at Werri beach just past Kiama where the boys managed to get a late surf just before dark. An hour later, back in the car we take the scenic route through Gerringong and Gerroa, turn right onto Beaches road heading back to the Princes Hwy and stopping at the historical town of Berry. I'm really not sure what is historical about Berry, it has an old charm about it and looks like its been around for some time. Classical style buildings ... read more

Well, all good things must come to an end including long vacations. We're jumping on a plane home soon. The benefit of a extra long vacation though, is that you are actually looking forward to some things at home like your own bed and having a home. Moving every 2 days gets tiring. I don't know how people travel for months on end. We were at Byron Bay for the last few days. Byron is a very cool place that was a little different than I thought it might be. For example, we stayed at The Arts Factory which is a 5 acre site that started the Byron Bay boom of arts and music and hippies. Naturally, I thought we would be living in a hippie commune but there was surprisingly few hippies. It turns out ... read more

Friday March 31st Lo all from OZ Well, not a lot to report today, as we spent much of it driving. Our day started off in Port Macquarie where we got up, checked out of our site, and went to a restaurant called the pancake place for breakfast. I’m not sure what our waitress’s problem was but she was a mega B! The food was so-so, definitely not up to the same standards which we’ve been used to having here lately. But the service…man it sucked. After that we got in the RV and went down to the koala hospital. This is a place that’s privately funded whose sole purpose is to rescue and rehab, and ultimately set free koalas. The threats to these cute little guys are mostly caused by humans. Sometimes they’re hit by ... read more

I arrived in Noosa expected great things, and frankly I was dissapointed. Perhaps it was the misnomer of the sunshine coast, or perhaps I've just been to so many beautiful places, but it wasn't what I'd hoped for or expected. It's not an ugly town - its just tropical suburbia with more than its fair share of waterfront. And its raining.... read more

30.03.06 Still Andy's post has not arrived so we are STILL here! But we have made progress and now booked our bus out of here for tomorrow night! So we have spent the day sunbathing and on the free internet. Got chatting to a nice guy, Rich, from Liverpool, who gave us 2 Thailand books! Great so we now have 3 Asia books to research. That night I went to a break dancing class! This was really good, even though I did fall on my head! I thought I was going to break my neck. But I can do a worm, leg spin, stall and the 6 step with a flare! So check that out. I also got that for free (as I did for the jazz funk class too, how good am I?) so as ... read more

The boyz, (Chris, Tim, Joseph and Danny), arrived on Wednesday, flying down from Sydney to sample a bit of Melbourne....and to see me of course! We had a lovely day, wandering around the city, and luckily the sun had come out, so everyone was in good spirits. That night we explored Commercial Road, paying a visit to Exchange and the Market, which was a good laugh, althought the Melly queens dont seem to like partying on week nights, so it was rather quiet, but after the odd tipple, we livened the place up with a DIY pole-dancing session, making complete tits out of ourselves on the stage. Thursday night we checked out Q&A (Queer and Alternative), which turned out to be a wicked club, really mixed, good venue, playing some classic old school and modern Indie ... read more

Got up this morning, still feeling the effects of last nights snakebite but headed for the Bus. arrived in townsville 5 minutes after the Magnetic Island ferry left so was stuck kicking my heels in the ferry waiting room for about and hour for the next ferry. Arrived at the hostel on Maggie just in time to book myself on a horse riding tour tomorrow and get myself an early night. Luckily Jules and Alex, the guys in my room, were also keen for an early night. Great people. They're cousins from canada and so nice!... read more

31.03.06 We headed out about 12 down to Fremantle and first stop was the E-shed Markets where we managed to pick up a few cheap souvenirs. Also bumped into a girl from Easyjet..Wallis Harvey..which was a complete shock, i couldn't believe i was the other side of the world in a local market and i knew someone-small world! After all that excitement and shock we headed down to the sail & anchor pub for a few beers and met up with Jackie & Daves son, Kenny and his girlfriend Jamie. We spent the afternoon there and then slowly walked over to the beach front where we saw one of the most beautiful sunsets and then headed out for some traditional fish & chips! 03.04.06 This morning we headed down to Mandora Bay as we were going ... read more

Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Barrington Tops March 31st 2006

More surfing in the morning, after the best night sleep. It was raining so I wasn't the only one not doing it. I played table tennis with Dani, while Skinny was off impressing the waves and building muscle. When they all came back we said goodbye to the crazy men and left for Barrington. Barrington is such a beautiful place, up in the hills with little rivers and just great scenery! It was the hostels first birthday so they had a little party! Other than that it was quite a lazy day... read more
