At the Hastings Marina after lunch "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" - Romans 8:28 The days are slipping by so quickly and before long we will be on our way to the UK starting our exciting new journey with God.
The past two weeks have seen us keeping very busy, checking and re checking what we have left to pack and discarding anything that we decided we did not need or can't fit into the cases. We have also been busy helping out June & Tony by sanding down paint work ready for decorating and also helping out in the garden where we have learnt new skills like using a ride on mower. Lots of fun and providing us with the opportunity to take in some sun before we hit the UK winter.
Friday 11th October saw us head to Melbourne from Traralgon via the V/Line train (courtesy of Seniors Week) and meet up with some ex work colleagues before catching the train to Frankston where we were then picked up and driven to Hastings for the weekend.
And what a weekend it was.
Saturday 12th October was men's breakfast at Holy Trinity. If you are a man and have never been to 'A Men's Breakfast' you are missing out on something special. A cooked breakfast of sausage, bacon, egg, tomatoes, toast and coffee. Breakfast is followed by listening to a guest speaker and an opportunity to talk to all the other men who attend. Great fellowship. Due to the 'Mini Fete' being held at Holy Trinity the men's breakfast was held at the Hastings Seafarers Centre.
After breakfast it was off to Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the 'Mini Fete' where we both had hoped to help out but we spent all of our time talking to the many friends we have made amongst our congregation. It was a great time as only God knows when our paths may cross again.
On
Sunday 13th October we arrived at Holy Trinity in time for the end of the 8.00am service which gave us another opportunity to say goodbye to those we had not caught up with on the Saturday. We then attended the 9.30am Holy Communion Service. We had been given the opportunity to participate in the service and we had
prepared a talk on the Power of Prayer which we gave just before Prayers for the People. It was very special as this was our last service at Holy Trinity.
After the service was the normal morning tea and again another opportunity to say goodbye and again say thank you to members of the congregation before we headed off to the Marina for lunch.
We seem to have said goodbye to our Holy Trinity family so many times in the past 12 months. Firstly when we went to the UK for 6 months, then when we headed off with the caravan for 4 months with Bush Church Aid and now as we head back to the UK. Sadly however this was our final goodbye to a congregation that has become a large part of our life. Part of our family forever. But contact will not be lost as we will continue with our Blog, our emails and our letters & cards but above all we know that through Christ we will always be connected by the Power of Prayer.
Monday 14th October saw the end of this special weekend.
Saturday 18th October presented us with a
warm and sunny day and a good day to help June & Tony buy completing the new drainage in there carport and spreading and levelling screening across the floor. Great to help out and who knows when these skills may come in useful.
On
Sunday 19th October we attended Church with June & Tony and it was a special service as Tony led the singing accompanied by a drummer and his guitar, very special.
After Church June & Tony took us on a drive to the Tarra-Bulga National Park which was fantastic and showed God's gifts in all there glory. We first visited Bulga where we enjoyed the bush walk along the Lyrebird Ridge Track. Then coffee at the shop where we saw the very old blind wombat. Then it was off to the Tarra Valley with it's many waterfalls and brooks. A great day out for all.
We have been in contact with St Chads and God is certainly not letting the grass grow under our feet. Apart from attending the Chip & Chat Fridays (Fish & Chips at the Summer House) in November and December we have been asked to read a piece on Australian
involvement in WW1 at the Remembrance Sunday Service on Sunday 9th November and also lead the Family Service (first Sunday in the month) in December or January - both of which we feel very privileged to do.
Our next Blog entry will be from the UK as we start our
Journey with Faith in the knowledge that God is in complete control and that through Him all things are possible.

All the best to the both of you on the next phase of your adventure. It was great to see you the other week and you both looked so well and far too relaxed - retirement and travelling are obviously good for the soul!
