Melbourne

Rest and relaxation after HK. Super hosts, Debs & Robbo, took me round Melbourne centre, then on two wine tasting trips, the Mornington peninsular, and the Yarra valley. The highlight was the final tasting at the Coldstream winery - - great Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sydney

Vibrant, noisy, bustling. Took two bus tours, one of the city and one wider, including Bondi beach in the rain. I now understand why this area is called New South Wales. Took ferries to Paramatta and to Manly, a great way to understand the magnificence of Sydney harbour. Highlight of the visit was Saturday; climbing the bridge to the top of the coat hanger in the afternoon; then Verdi's Falstaff at the opera in the evening. Food, any cuisine you want, including a superb tapas restaurant, Miro.
