Improved entry. Here goes: The first awareness we had of being in the beginnings of the outback was the heat (naturally). It is difficult to explain how much it affects your mind, your comfort and energy levels. We first noticed this when we'd driven up to Port Augusta after leaving Adelaide. We planned to stop off at the huge jetty in Port Pirie (you'll see in the pictures) to meet some dolp... Read Full Entry

The OlgasThe Olgas
The Olgas

We hiked around the Olga's at the crack of dawn to beat the crowds and also the heat of the sun. We missed sunrise by about half an hour though which was a shame.

If you didn't know this already, The Olgas are kind of like a more worn down Uluru, up the road from the famous rock. There is a load more vegetation growing in amongst the eroded spaceship parts (I am firmly standing by this theory.. it's either the other half of the same ship broken up in the atmosphere or another ship).

Not quite a Mulder & Scully moment

This was a real let down for us.. Thom's ambitions at being like Mulder for 5 minutes were dashed. I did however decide that the lady who served us in the shop next door seemed ever so odd and kind of uncomfortable in her skin (like M.I.B) she didn't actually say anything to me and just repeated the tones I made when speaking to her (like predator). Perhaps this was the real sight to see.
