Continued through to Manning Gorge, got there on dark and didn’t see the signs to say “Coach Parking Only” and we parked in that section. Oh well, we weren’t the only ones. Two other cars that broke down on way to Mitchell Falls arrived after us. Went to do the walk to Manning Gorge and the Falls. The path was overgrown and the only other way was to swim across to the other side and then walk. 8am was too early for a swim and only 18°C. Skipped it and drove to King Leopold Conservation Park. Went into Bell Gorge (and saw another Ulty). It was a 3km round trip. Nice walk, but rocky. You walk into the gorge, cross the river at the top of the falls, climb the rocks on the other side and zigzag down to the water where you can go for a swim. Lots of people had been swimming and were sitting on the rocks drying off before walking back. We stepped in the freezing cold water and the slippery rocks took over. Kate slid in backwards first. I started laughing and wasn’t far behind, but got a longer slope and it was like skiing. You

Rod at bottom of waterfall didn’t have a choice whether you went in or not, once your feet were in the water. Alex slipped in round the corner and we conned Rod into it. He didn’t know about the slipperiness. It was difficult to get out as well. Stopped at Silent Grove for lunch.
Down to Windjana Gorge and set up. Drove down to Tunnel Creek. It was an experience. We had to climb over big rocks and then drop into the water. You had to take torches and wade through the water then along the sand bank. Walked through to the other end and saw a croc on the way back. Well we saw the 2 eyes sticking out of the water, and then when the torch came back they had disappeared! We all know rocks don’t move. Back to camp and surprise, surprise, I had service from Optus. A mine nearby, so I made a couple of calls then to bed. In the morning we packed up and drove to the gorge. There were lots of crocs floating in the water and laying on the bank. Saw a baby one about 8 inches long laying on a huge rock where nobody could

Gill & Kate in bottom left corner get to him. Another was right near the water’s edge with the mouth open showing its teeth. Had a look at the police ruins at Lillimilura.
Drove to Derby, booked into the only Caravan Park that takes kids and had a look around. Took a photo at the wharf at low tide, with all the mud flats showing and a boat grounded. Did some grocery shopping and had lunch. Went back to the wharf to see the high tide and the sunset. Left early in the morning to go to Broome.
