Well I didn’t exactly forget to update the travel blog but we’ve been pretty busy and internet cafés haven’t exactly been jumping out at us - unlike the local wild life. Speaking of which, one thing I did forgot was how annoying flies are - and judging by my families reaction after 15 years in Australia I guess it’s something you never get used to…
So let me take you back to Oz as we are currently in India (where the computers are about the same speed as the cows in the street but a little less frequent). The last time I wrote I was heading down south of Perth towards Bunbury to surprise who looked after me many years ago. So I left the Old Fire Station in Freo and headed south, to say Brian, Steve, and Vicky were a tad surprised as I casually strolled into the bar is a slight understatement, Margaret and Kathryn already knew - most surprised I think was my cousin Vicky, and to which I would like to wish Vicky and Gavin all the very best for the future as they are getting married next month - Congratulations and all the best for
the future...
The Last time I was around Perth I never made the trip down to Margaret River so thanks to Vicky and my other cousin Kathryn for showing me the lovely sights of Margaret River, and particularly the wine tasting - hic. The next day Kathryn and myself made the short trip back down for a Margaret River for a couple of days which included a canoe trip in the pouring rain and a personal wine tour thanks to Gemma - many thanks once again… Margaret River is also a great place for surfing, windsurfing, and kite surfing and holds many world-class tournaments - I just arrived a little late to show them how it’s done - darn unlucky I know…
As Australia day was rapidly approaching we all made plans to meet in south Perth and watch the fire works from the foreshore. However prior to that in the afternoon I was able to finally meet up with my travel buddy Suzanne for a few drinks and a quick bite to eat - heeeeeeeeeello Sukie. After a quick hello we both went back to our parties to watch the fireworks which I have to say were
pretty spectacular and I’m afraid the attached photo’s don’t do it justice as always…
Following the fireworks we decided to head off to the Casino - yes, I know, always a good idea after all day drinking - lets just say Steve and myself didn’t win and leave it at that shall we… The following day we headed to Rottnest Island which is a beautiful small island a short ferry ride away from Perth. Unfortunately due to the banging inside my head I had to opt out of the bike ride I did many years ago and just relax while everyone else enjoyed the beautiful scenery - highly recommended indeed… Thanks again to all the Parrs for once again putting me up and looking after me - and Brian, I will win at golf next time…
My final night in Australia I have to say was a quiet evening in on my own, spent packing my bags for the flight the next morning… what can I say, I’m not as young as I used to be… so the next morning Kathryn drops me at the airport where I meet up with Suzanne and here the traveling begins… Singapore
here we come - SC and SC…
