Geo: -38.5674, 146.673Packed and were picked up at 10.15 for our flight to Chaing Mai, peak hour is all the time here but we had a good run, taking 20 minutes and our flight is at 1.10pm. The Airport here is three to four times the size of Melbourne bloody huge. In the airport and walking through the boarding area with half an hour to go I finally saw Swatches which have no metal I can wear so bought one for 3400 bht, $132.55 really nice. Mick waiting said we have 10 minutes to board so left and nearly missed the plane the boarding area was far in the distance, we only just made it.29th September, Full Day Chiang Rai and Golden Triangle TourWe left at 7am for Chiang Mai by road 200 kms away. With only a few days until I head off, I thought it was time to test out the idea of a travel blog. After all, not everyone has facebook, twitter, instagram or the other social media platforms that I will be using to communicate. So why not start a blog. I mean, I want to start a blog in my professional life, so this seems like a good first experiment. Will keep everyone updated on my trip when I head to Europe next week....only 6 sleeps to go now!... read more

Or how what should have been a simple walk in the forest turned into a five hour ordeal involving snakes, leeches and a call to 000. But I digress. Let's start from the beginning... Sadly there are no visual images to accompany this crazy story but this link will put you in the picture: http://www.grandstrzeleckitrack.org.au/ The tranquil camping spot in the Tarra Bulga National Park located in the Tarra Valley is beautiful. Lots of bush, wildlife and very few people. A great place to relax and catch up on some reading. The boys (Obie and Dean) were keen on doing a walk in the morning but I didn't think it sounded like a pleasant Sunday stroll. Details were sketchy, there was mention of leeches and it might involve some steep climbing and/or descending. So I drove ... read more

Leaving Lakes Entrance at around 930am, much more relaxed after we tested the braking features on the van. All working spot on, after we had done the adjustment on the brake controller, a simple solution when we know how. The drive South West along the Princes Highway was good and we spotted another Windsor van ahead being pulled by a Nissan Patrol the same as ours. We managed to pass them at a passing lane and spotted a VHF radio arial, so called them up, and had a chat. Continued along our way and kept in touch and decided to stop for morning tea at Sale, with the other van behind us. We made a coffee and sat and chatted with Dave and Elaine about travelling and being on the road. A great stop and break. ... read more
