DAY 132 Title Time & Lime We got up earlier today as we are moving on from Warrnambool, so a quick breakfast of tea and toast before packing up camp. Just before we leave town we head over to Rays Outdoors to return the faulty camp kitchen that we had purchased the day before. We were disappointed; however there is no point in paying all that money for something that is not complete. They took it back without any fuss, and frankly so they should. So still without a table we thought we would pop into the large Bunnings next door (equivalent to B&Q in UK), we had a look around the outdoor area, looking for picnic tables we asked for some help as we could not see what we wanted, they took us to a ... read more

DAY 131 Waking up to a nice warm morning, it feels like a long while since we had one of those and we were happy, because we were warm. Making full use of the camp kitchen I did a full English Breakfast for us, it went down very well. Having our powered site, let us charge everything up, I bet the electricity meter was spinning last night as we charged one thing after another. We needed to do a few chores today, so got some washing on the line, typed up the blog, downloaded photos etc. Eventually we got going, and headed straight for the mini golf that we had passed when we first drove in to Warrnambool yesterday. It was going to be a grudge match, on Caroline’s behalf, as I whooped her last time. ... read more

After the Grotto we decided to head on a more direct route to Adelaide and stray from the Great Ocean Road. We first took the road to Warrnambool and then cut in a more direct line towards South Australia (SA). We did not plan on seeing the Grampians on this trip, as most people do on the drive. They were too far out of the way and would cause us to lose almost a day getting to Adelaide. After Warrnambool we took the a shorter route to Mt. Gambier. For this it was my turn to drive, and I was excited as I have never driven in Australia before. Earlier on the GOR there were signs to stay on the LEFT. It would turn out to be easier than I though and adjusted pretty quickly. The ... read more

30/11/08 = A double treat day Woke up really early needing the toilet like I knew I would. Jogged to festival gates, praying they were open, only to find they were closed and people inside were just starting to clean up after festival - was 6:15. Mission toilet began then. Ran around all the outside perimeter of the fenced off festival to try and find a gap I could crawl through - no joy. Ran down beach a little to try and find some toilets - no joy (all the while in my pyjamas with a pair of trousers pulled over I might add). In end, decided to try a cafe or the bowling club = no joy, both closed. But did see that where the bowling club met the fair, there was a break in ... read more

1st December 2008 - ONWARDS TO WARRNAMBOOL Once we arrived at Warrnambool we scoped out the campsites. We wanted to find the cheapest one so we drove to all three to check them all out. Turns out there was only $2 difference from the cheapest to the most expensive so we probably spent more on fuel driving to each one!! Once settled it was fairly late afternoon (around 4ish). We decided to get the most out of the campsite and use the pool to get some much needed exercise. After some good swimming we then had a whirl in the spa for 15 minutes. Very nice but at the same time the amount of chlorine in there was re-god-damn-diculous!!! Made our eyes sting and almost stripped our skin raw it was that strong!!! May as well ... read more

We made our way to Warrnambool , the beginning of the Great Ocean Road. This was another Mastercard Moment because Stephan Dannielle and I went for a horseride on the beach with some friends we met on the road. Dannielle first ride since falling off last July. She was a little nervous but not as much as her mum. She did great and we all had a great time. ... read more

Well hello! After a week and a half trying to find an internet cafe in Geelong or Warrnabool, I have finally managed it! (Good business plan for anyone looking to move to Auz.. they don't have internet cafes!) It was an interesting first week, my work was based in Warrnabool so we stayed in the Beach Backpackers just on the coast, which was an experience in itself... it would be nice to have a room to myself again for a change!!! The week was very interesting although not really enough work to keep us going unfortunately... however we were working along Russells Creek in Warrnabool clearing the dreaded woody weeds... basically ash trees and hawthorns which aren't exactly indeginous here! We then cleared rubbish and some grass to allow us to put in new plants along ... read more

Our long overdue visit to Warrnambool on the Great Ocean Road VIC (The wet and windy 'shipwreck Coast). Thursday 25th September we headed for Warrnambool taking the easy route for a change. Scenic routes are great via Bendigo and Ballarat or the Great Ocean Road but this time we wanted to go Via Geelong as it was Grand Final weekend and as you all know Reg is a die hard Geelong Supporter. Unfortunately they couldn't repeat their great victory of last year and Hawthorn have now gone down in history as 2008 victors. We arranged a Doggie and House sitter (thanks Kate) and set off at 6.30am. After stopping off at Macca's in Gundagai for breakfast, coffee with Bazza in Albury and a roadhouse lunch just before Melbourne, we arrived in Geelong around 4pm, just in ... read more
