Morning all! Thanks for joining me again. I'm getting more and more energised about writing now, so I really appreciate your readership, and would love you to urge all your friends to give my blog a go. Speaking of energetic writing: if this one starts to feel a bit long, please skip to THE IMPORTANT BIT at the end, rather than stop reading altogether! Finally this one goes out with big hugs to my mum who just sent me a lovely message - she's an emotional sort, you know... Enjoy! We’re engaged! I believe that title was what the kids these days are calling a ‘spoiler’. Terribly sorry about that, but it’s just such exciting news, and hopefully the full story won’t be any the less entertaining for having its climax foretold. The story begins (or ... read more

Well I finished work on last Thursday 30/10/2008, so I could go to Gwen's farewell on Friday 31.10/2008. It was very emotional affair. Just about all the staff attended, plus past staff and Principals. A luncheon was provided and catered by the Home Economics Ancillary Staff and Year 11 Food Technology students. Speeches, a huge cake and a song penned and sung by some staff members with musical accompaniment completed the memorable day... read more

Day 377 (7.04.08) to Day 383 (13.04.08) It wasn’t easy to build up the motivation to go to work. By now I’m nearly certain we have lost intelligence by working here, but as we’re still getting along well with the team we are sticking with it for now. Tuesday brought about the next of our swing dancing lessons. Still opting to go for both classes we had a solid two hours of dancing - tiring stuff. We started off the first hour with tandem Charlston which was a lot of fun and as we were dancing one in front of the other stepping on toes was a real possibility. Ready for a sit down but not having time for one we went straight into our second 8 beat Lindyhop class. It was great to take what ... read more

Day 313 (3.2.08) Less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne are the Dandenongs, a range of hills with large areas of National Park topped off by Mt Dandenong itself. There are loads of walking trails and as it was a nice day we thought we’d go and try a couple out. As we approached the ranges and drove up the steep and windy road into the hills the tall trees lining the edges of the road and the lush ferns beneath promised us some interesting walks. Our first walk took us through towering Mountain Ash trees to the Sherbrooke Falls - the name made us think it would be the usual torrent of water associated with a waterfall but it was more like a small set of rapids in a stream! It was pretty none-the-less and ... read more

Had tea on the way up to Belgrave, fed the birds. I'm not a big fan of birds so dad fed them while I took photos. Took the Puffing Billy from Belgrave to Menzies Creek. It was a relaxing ride, occasionally you get some dust in your face thanks to the wind blowing smoke from the front of the train.... read more
