12 apostles!!
Pretty spectacular!! Arrived in Melbourne after possibly the longest drive I've ever had. We left Sydney and the first road sign displayed Melbourne 1,054km. Lost count of all the dead Kangaroos and Wallabies along the way, equally match by the amount of Subways we ate aswell! Arrived in Melbourne and checked into the hostel, no joke it is amazing. I'm no hostel pro and its hard to get excited about a place when you are staying in Bunk beads with snoring Italians everywhere but it really is top notch!
Within 2 hours of being in Melbourne we were in the Telstra Dome watch the tri nations rugby match between Aussies and Kiwis. Massive rivalry between these 2 teams as you would expect, so was a good thing to see. Tickets were 6 pounds per person as well so even though the sport is turd, cant really go wrong at that price. After rugga it was as usual straight out on the Piss in central Melbourne, Saturday night. Its the Melbourne Cup on at the moment so there were tons of pissed up well to do's and high class ladies in funny hats. Not really a backpackers dream but still had some fun
Aussies v Kiwis Rugga!!
Telstra Dome is awesome!! on the town. 6am we hit the casino, was down $150 in 5 mins but clawed it back and ended evens I believe. Back into bed at 11am, sore head and all!
In the hostel there was an auction for some seriously reduced tours in various parts of the country, ie Bungee Jumping in Cairns, Blue Mountatins tours in Sydney. I ended up spending close to a grand on three great sounding tours. First one a 5 night tour from Alice Springs via Ularu, Kings Canyon and other parts and ending up in Adelaide. Then I pick up my second tour from Adelaide over to Kangaroo Island for a 3 night 4 wheel drive tour which involves playing with dolphins, kangaroos, whales, Koalas and all that Aussie stuff, should be fun! My last bid was for a 3 night tall ship cruise in the WhitSunday Islands, all inclusive with snorkeling etc, so I'll be updating my blog with these when I do them!
We also drove along The Great Ocean Road in yet another hire car, this time 700kms in one day! Drove all the way from Melbourne to the 12 apostles and back via the Grampian mountains.
Kangaroooooo!!!!
Look at the baby, cute!! The apostles were pretty cool if you like rocks, big ones and old ones and some of the coast line was spectacular. We even went Bells beach where the film Point Break was filmed, the best surfing beach in Australia and the waves were massive, almost scary! I didn't want to show the locals how to do it, so I just took photos!
Neighbours tour this weekend, woo!!!!
