This week started watching Tv in bed, catching up on some UK programmes. Then we sang for Alan as it was his birthday and Alex and I went to buy him a cake! It took us about twenty minutes to light it because of the fans on in the kitchen which was funny. Then we listened to music and We started the party for Alan's birthday! We played goon pong, Alex and I lost but our third game we finally won! Then Alex bought out her new selfie stick and we took loads of photos with all our Chili blue family!! Then we got the party bus to Side bar in town, so many people from the hostel went out, it was a really good night and we carried on the party back at the hostel! The next morning we had to check out, which wasn't enjoyable! Alex and I went to get some good then went to watch films in Alan and Reece's room until our coach in the evening. Jorge came in during the evening to say goodbye - it was really sad because he's been there since the beginning- saying bye to people is definitely the hardest part
of travelling! Then at 6 we left to get our coach to Melbourne, we weren't looking forward to a hungover 12 hour journey, particularly when we met our bus driver Jim who was the moodiest old man ever! During the journey there was an incredible storm which we loved watching then we slept until our coach got in at 7am. We got off the bus and walked to our hostel, we were there in time for the free breakfast and we showered and chilled for a bit before going into town. We went to Queen Victorias markets and had a look round then we went into the town centre and to see Federation Square. It was a random place that has museums and random events on. Then we went to look at some of the famous Street art on Hosier and Rutledge Lane, we ended up watching a graffiti artist for about an hour, watching him work was amazing but we couldn't watch him do the whole wall! Then we went food shopping, had dinner, did laundry and went to bed as we were exhausted!
The next morning we woke up and went for a look around China town, it
wasn't very impressive! Then we visited a few more famous graffiti stops! Then we came across a really lovely little bookshop and the guy in the shop read us a children's book- even while we are travelling we can't stop ending teachers and spent ages looking at Australian children's books! Then we got a tram to St Kilda and went to have a look around Luna Park theme park. We did tho on anything as it was nearly $11 per ride! Then we went to St kilda's beach it was nice but was a little windy! Then we wandered to Chapel street and on the way we went in a French Market. Then when we got to Chapel street and we found a Lindt cafe, it was incredible. The menu had so many choices but we decided to share a cookies and cream cheesecake and a chocolate mud cake! Then we went back to the haired and had dinner before meeting Hugh! We watched a christmas light show in town where they light up the town hall. It had different themed Christmases such as Italian and USA. It was really good and then we went to look at some more
Christmas lights and trees. After we went to a bar in tone and caught up with Hugh!
In the morning we woke up and I called my mum for a catch up. Then we went into town and stopped at a few shops to have a look. Then we went to a cute coffee shop called little cupcake and had a tea and cake. After we went to the Australian Centre for the Moving image. I bought a call travel journal thing with scratch maps and then we went to look at some movie exhibitions, some of them were a bit strange! Next we went to town hall to see a Gingerbread Village. It had loads of places in Melbourne made out of gingerbread! Then we went to Perk up burger for dinner, it was really nice. When we got home we had three sweets on our bed which a Chinese girl had left on our bed as a gift because she was new to the room which was really sweet of her! Then in the evening I Skyped Kotaro before getting an early night before our van tomorrow. We woke up early and got the train to pick up
our camper van! Alex drove first, it was an automatic which was new to us both. We didn't have a sat nav so I had to map read which was fun! We got onto the Great Ocean Road quite quickly and we made lots of stops along the way. Firstly we stopped at Urquhart Bluff and then Big Hill. There were lots of pretty views. Next up we turned off to go and see Erskine Falls, a cool waterfall. Then we headed to the 12 Apostles with a few more stops at Mount Defiance Lookout and Apollo Bay. We made it to the 12 apostles and it was really beautiful, there aren't 12 left though haha After we drove to Princetown where we stayed in a campsite. We paid for it as we needed showers and some charging points! There were lots of kangaroos! We had a BBQ and then spent our first night in our van, it was weird but cool. The next morning we were up at 6 for the long drive to Phillip Island. I loved driving an automatic it was so easy. I drove 365km which was longggg but we got there and went to an
information centre to plan our day. We drove to Woolami Surf beach and it was stunning! Then we went for a beach walk to the Pinnacles lookout. On the way we saw an Enchidna which was cool! When we got to the lookout it was another beautiful view and we sat up there for a while chatting! After we drove to town and had a quick look around but there wasn't much there. Then we went I penguin parade to watch some penguins. We had to wait until sunset to see them so we made dinner in the car park- we looked weird but had no choice! Then found some seats on the beach to wait for the penguins. Apparently the journey from the sea to the bank is a scary time for them because they are worried about birds of prey attacking them. There were seagulls waiting on the beach to scare them so they panic and regurgitate their food! The penguins started coming out of the sea but kept running back in scared, when enough of them had formed a group they made their dash up to their nests to find their young, they were only about a
metre away from us, it was amazing! Then after we could walk round a boardwalk and you could see them feeding their chicks! (We couldn't take photos because that also scares them and if they throw up their food they can't feed their young!) Then we stopped in Outtrim rest stop for the night which was a small forest area!
