Today did not have the energy to do a lot in the morning. Went for a walk and dinner with Sampsa in the newly redeveloped Docklands area, that was only about 15-20mins walk away. Had an amazing seafood platter that was way too big for us to possibly eat. After dinner we went to the Sofitel in the center of town and went to the bar for a quick drink on the 35th floor. Tänään mulla ei ollut kovin paljon energiaa tehdä juurikaan mitään aamupäivällä. Menimme Sampsan kanssa kävelylle vanhalle Docklands satamalueelle missä söimme päivällistä. Päivällisen jälkeen menimme keskustaan Sofiteliin jossa istuimme näköalabaarissa 35nessä kerroksessa.... read more

I visited the The Leonardo da Vinci Machines - An Exhibition of Genius where sixty four models of Da Vinci’s famous machines are featured, many of which can be touched, tried and tested by visitors, and each explores the master’s genius in design. The exhibition is from the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci in Italy. To satisfy the world-wide interest in Leonardo Da Vinci and his creative process, the Florentine artisans of the Niccolai family from Teknoart have spent the last half-century studying the mechanics of his projects and have created an outstanding exhibition of fully functional models of Da Vinci’s inventions. The models have been constructed by the artisans and are based on Da Vinci’s famous codices. There was also two BBC produced documentaries regarding Da Vinci's life on show throughout the day.... read more

Right I've been a bit slack and not updated for a while, so apologies first as I know how you are all enthralled by my exploits and wait with baited breath for my next installment, well wait no-more. So I'm in Oz, Melbourne to be specific, got here today and what have I been upto, well not too much if I'm honest and that's why I've not updated. I did plan to chill for a bit when I got to Oz and that what I've done. After my lovely journey from the Islands of Thailand to Oz I was glad to get here without too much trauma and get a bed and catch-up on some sleep. I was booked into a hostel in Kings Cross, a lovely area of Sydney if anyone hasn't been. Basically it's ... read more

Yo everyone, I had my trip to Melbourne this past weekend. Now that I have my act together after getting back, I can post a little bit about what I have been up to. Well Melbourne was a really good trip. We went out there Thursday night, and it is only about a hour and 15 minute flight from Sydney. We stayed with one of Lauren's friends from IU and her roommate there Colleen and Allison. Slept on the hardest floor of all time. You can look them up in my facebook pics if you want to know bad enough. Anyways we went out that night, checked out the city the next day shopping and such, and then we went to the Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Games is the Olympics for all the countries that make ... read more

Our first sight of Melbourne was early on the morning that we arrived in Australia. We had collected the hire car and were bound for Rye on the Mornington Peninsular, (see previous blogs). The traffic down the highway was horrendous, we had hit peak time. We continued over a large sweeping bridge heading for the city-link and toll charges. The congestion charges are not as bad as predicted and certainly get you through the city. As we swept across the bridge I thought, wow, New York, with all the skyscrapers. After travelling for what seemed like hours, we hit countryside and I thought that's better, never dreaming that I would fall in love with a city, that happened later. Our next sight of Melbourne was from Mornington where we had gone for the Regatta. To see ... read more

Still scorching hot on NYE night. We thought going to the Docklands would be cooler since it was next to the water. Nope. No such luck. Anyone thinking of going to see the fireworks should go to the Docklands!! There were a lot of people but it wasn't overly crowded to the point of being squashed against someone - still a lot of room and plenty of space all across the waterfront to get a good view of the fireworks which were set up to fire from the water. Highly recommended!... read more
