Classes have already started here. I am taking Science in Industry, Communication: New Media, Macroeconomics, and Australia Today. They all seem like they will be good classes, nothing to hard or boring. The really strange thing is that I have no science labs, after 2 years of spending 6-8 hours a week in chemistry or anatomy lab; I suddenly have no labs and am taking more arts classes. Since classes have started, all the local student are back. I have met many of the people in my unit and they all seem really nice and having been giving my tips and helping me out with whatever I need. Many of them go home on weekends so campus is quieter but all of the international students are still here. I have been getting to do lots of ... read more

Little slow with this update, but things should be updated more frequently now that we finally bit the bullet and got wireless broadband internet, so now wherever we go (or so they say), we should be connected. Amazing how out of touch you feel without internet access! Our last few days up around Wollongong were spent doing much of the same, and hanging out with Tarra, my friend living in Melbourne, who was rolling through the Gong with her Mom and Grandma who were over visiting for 2 weeks from Canada and on a whirlwind tour of Australia. It was good to see them, and to catch up with TP again. We have now been in Victoria for 2 weeks ago now, staying in a little town called Ocean Grove on the Bellarine Peninsula. It is ... read more

For international students orientation we spent 3 days on the beach! We started out in amazing cottages with great views of the city of Lorne, right along the Great Ocean Road. Outside of our windows were tons of birds who were always ready to be feed, including perching on my arm and eating from my hand. We got to go surfing, I even got up but the water was freezing since it is the middle of winter here. Hiking through the jungle seeing kangaroos, kolas and other animals was great. Finally yesterday after leaving Lorne we went sightseeing to amazing places all over the Great Ocean Road area, including Loch Arc Gorge, 12 Apostles, and other beautiful sights along the road. Not a bad first few days in Australia!... read more

As you can see my blogging skills are not upto scratch but thought i would add a couple more entries now that i am back on UK to tell you about my travels (with the aid of Sarah on the computer !!!!) Went to an exclusive restaurant in Daylesford with Jeff's brother, Tim, Jenny and Carol (Jeff's sister). Spent ages looking for the prices but they were nowhere to be seen !!!! God knows how much it was but it was out of this world. Surprised i didn't leave bouncing after having eaten Kangaroo. Having spent a few more days with Tim and Jenny, it was then time to tackle the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I donned my bright blue jump suit, attached myself to the bridge and then joined our group to the top. Fantastic experience. ... read more

A few little facts about my trip: In the three and a half months I was away I spent time in 17 countries, 16 of which did not speak primarily English. From those 16 I had the chance to experience 14 different languages (although as soon as I came across a new language, any vocab retained from the last was pushed out of my memory to make room for the new one). I made it as far east as war-stricken Bosnia; from the cool, northern climates of Scandinavia all the way down to the warm, sunny weather of the Adriatic and Mediterranean coasts. I zig-zagged my way across the continent on buses and trains, but I still barely scratched the surface. I tried to immerse myself in the various cultures as much as possible for someone ... read more
