Sitzen dann ... read more

So nun endlich angekommen in Australien, gings gleich wieder lustig weiter. Was wär eine Reise ohne sowas......... read more

Allen anderen, meinen Freunden in diesem Sinne: Danke!!!!! ... read more

So we ended up staying at their girls place in the city for the rest of the weekend and next weekend. It was great to be able to shower and go pee and wash your hands whenever we wanted and use a fridge for food, finally we were able to get some CHEESE!!!! The entire week we spent looking for jobs, we had a few interviews and found a few jobs in the city. Byron found a job being a pedi-cab or rickshaw driver - haha! And I got a job with GreenPeace, which I had to turn down because we could not afford to live in the city and living out of our van in Brisbane didn’t seem like a great idea. So we headed up the Sunshine Coast to a town called Mooloolaba -- ... read more

When we knew we were heading to Woodford again this year we were looking forward to catching up with our long time family friends "The Macks". Christmas Eve we set off for their place near Mooloolaba, and stayed overnight to have Christmas morning with them also. It was fantastic to hang out with them! Christmas eve we had a BBQ, and their daughter took my little guys for a walk to see the lights around. In the morning we loaded the trailer with the BBQ, tables, chairs and plenty of food and headed off to Mooloolaba beach. There we met up with a heap of other families who didnt have any other family to spend Christmas with and we all had breaky and played in the beautiful water. I have to say it was the nicest ... read more

I am flying home so soon. The last month has gone by so fast and I do not want to leave, but miss everyone at home a lot. Enjoy some random thoughts I have about Oz and life here: Cheers to the ending of an epic adventure across the Pacific from everyone I know. Conny came back from Ayers Rock/Uluru (middle of Oz) with these Games learned in Australia 1. I can see the moon in the spoon 2. A trip around the world 3. 2 up, 2 down, 1 up 1 down I've noticed I really do hear the f word more in one day here than I usually do for a week in the U.S. For example, one day I was walking along the esplanade past the Wharf Tavern/Fridays and there were three blokes ... read more

The time has come for us to leave Mooloolaba and keep travelling. It's been a fun 3 months and we'll miss the friends we've made here but we've only got 2 months left in Australia and there's plenty to see. We've decided to rent a campervan in Brisbane and drive it up to Cairns then all the way down to Melbourne. First we'll spend a long weekend in Brisbane before hitting the road.... read more

We've settled in Mooloolaba for some time now. I am still doing night security and Jay has had a few promotions, from day cleaner to night cleaner and from that to receptionist. She now works 35 paid hours a week so we've been able to save up some cash. It's been nice to stay in one spot for awhile and form lasting friendships with the rest of the long-termers. We really love it here despite the usual annoyances that come with living in a busy hostel. So much has happened in the last few months that it all sort of blends together, but here are some of the highlights: -Jay and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a beach BBQ of steak and corn-on-the-cob. Imagine trying that back home! -A few of the guys here began a ... read more

I forgot to include St. Patty's Day festivities in the last blog! The Saturday previous to St. Patty's Day a group of 11 or so of us went to Sunshine Plaza (the BEAUTIFUL shopping center near me) and had dinner at the Pig and Whistle restaurant. They were offering a special--- if you buy an "Irish" meal and a pint of Guinness, you get a free T-shirt! We were all over that. The meal was very good too- I had steak and Guinness pie, steamed veggies, mashed potatoes. So good! After dinner we caught a bus back to the apartments, hung out on Rob's patio (he was lucky enough to get a first floor apartment with a huge patio that looks out toward to the University and the small lake that separates the apartments from the ... read more
