Well, SOMEONE'S got to need to be in Rockhampton!

Motoguzzi man, a '10 pound pom' I met 2 hours north of here says you can't get a decent steak here in spite of its being the 'beef capital' of Oz. He now lives in Bunderberg so I suppose he should know.

Infact it's much prettier than the Lonely Planet suggests inspite of drizzle and outsize steaks. This is my 1st internet access in Oz since Townsville. Mostly because I arrive in small towns late in the afternoon, a shade frazzled and after getting hozed down it's gone 5pm and any internet cafes that there may be are closed. However you've not missed too much in the last week or so. I've recovered from a bug or something which clobbered my appatite more than anything but still managing >100k days mostly because there's bugger all else in between. Pretty though. Green hills and mountains, cane and cattle. It's alot more attractive than it sounds. Camping on the beach at Rollinstone a bit of as highlight. Croc in the river, beach shower, coral shingle, palm trees and a beach cafe providing a dose of fish'n chips fit for 5! Heavy rain overnight there and Mackay, along with biblical ( I mean Cecil B DeMill) thunder and lightning. Not good from inside a tiny tent I can assure you.

Meeting up with a mate from Devon this afternoon. Pete S is flying up from Adelaide to say hello! How nice is that!

Route from here south still undecided. There are some big gaps either way and big gaps on a bike are REALLY big out here. That's gaps with nothing and nowhere to get food, water or much else. Gaps of 70-80k are quite common out here and I'm not peddling the Simpson desert!

Well enough waffle here for a day or 2. I hope the weather improves back home.
