Spent several hours out and about around Mackay. North to beaches and lookouts, lunch at the marina and time in the city centre.

Enormous tides leave these boats high and dry.

Part of the marina which a fairly new development. Some interesting paintwork on the front if this one.

Lighthouse

The only kerosene operated lighthouse in the world. Moved to Mackay in 1985 and restored to full operation in 1995.

Hotels, unit blocks and eateries with very pleasant views. Just beside the port. There were 18 big ships sitting out waiting to come into the port which is a major port for sugar exports.

The city centre. Very attractive street with trees up the centre and lots of artwork along the footpaths.

There are dozens of ducks living at this caravan park and the owners feed them and the lorikeets each afternoon. We were surprised to see the two different types of birds sharing the food.
