About a 100 Km trip today to Mackay which is rather a large place. Spent a few hours driving around getting a feel of the city and then walked around a part of the botanic gardens which are spectacular.

At the botanic gardens. Made out of some interesting pieces of metal.

Fernery

One tiny part of the gardens.

Lagoon

Part of the lagoons at the botanic gardens. The Pioneer River flowed through here until 1918 when a cyclone shifted the course of the river to its current position several kilometres away.

Hibiscus

An unusual hibiscus. Just one of the many great sights at the gardens.
