Most people come to Hervey Bay to get to Fraser Island - but not me! I leave for Fraser from the much closer Rainbow Beach in a few days - weather permitting.
I'm staying in Torquay - one of four towns which make up Hervey Bay. It's a strange but pleasant mix of cafe's and restaurants broken up by the odd grocers or fishmongers. There is a lively feel to the place, and its a small town - but it seems that the bigger brand names are yet to take it over.

The day is spent walking along the seafront - up to the marina, a sushi lunch on the sea wall and hand feeding sharks in the small but well stocked aquarium. A good chillout!

The next post will be more interesting... I promise!
