This is where the story gets interesting, the next two days didn't go as planned and we will remember it for the wrong reasons. This being said we all had a good experience.
We met at Rainbow beach Surf Club with our guide Andrew who was to show us around Fraser Island, we all climed aboard a Toyota Hybrid 4x4 and set off to the ferry at Inskip Point. Once on the island we drove along 75 mile beach which is the main highway beach road along the island. Our first stop was at Eli Creek, here we had the chance to swim or paddle in fresh spring water. CRASH BANG WALLOP!!!!!!!!! This is where our plans took a big change in direction. Before heading on to our next stop we all made use of the WC and started to make our way back to the truck when chris excelerated down the walkway and fell on the wooden steps ripping a six inch slash in his left ankle. after administering some first aid with a cple of butterfly stiches, a dressing and some bandage we set off to the first aid hut at the local resort.
The outcome was for me and Chris to leave the island to go get seven stiches at Rainbow Beach while Sue and Kayleigh continued there 2 day trip on the island. From here the stories split and I will leave Sue to tell you hers and Kayleighs.
For me and Chris to Get off the island it was quite a chore as at high tide the beach rd can not be used and Andrew had to get us to the ferry and back to the girls before high tide. We made it and swopped onto another 4x4 which was doing a day tour on the island and was able to drop us back at Rainbow Beach to our car.
For us after visiting the doctor for the stiches it was spent in a back packers lodge which was clean and friendly if not a bit basic.
We had steak and mash for tea and I made the most of the bar and downed a few skooners (pints) before heading for bed.
To make the most of the next day we headed up to Hervey Bay for a look around although we were limited by not walking to far due to Hopper as we now call him.
It was a good hour drive up and by the time we got back to Rainbow Beach the girls had returned and we hugged and jumped in the car for our drive back to Brisbane.
Girls on Tour- Andrew dropped us and the other family of 3 to go for a walk through the bush to Wabby lake. Took about an hour each way. We chose to go the longer but easier route as not all of us felt up to climbing the blowhole. The lake was very clear and full of catfish. Andrew picked us up and took us to our 'upgraded' accommodation. Instead of staying in a tent we were staying in a house in Eurong. I think we all gasped when we saw it. Very basic and tatty. Made the best of it and all mucked in with making the salad to go with th Bbq'd burgers and fish that Andrew cooked. The other family(daughter 24) were from Portsmouth and easy to talk to. Decided to grab the torch and walk to the pub at the hotel in the village. After a couple we walked back via the beach as night sky really black and starry. Kay and I slept in bunkbeds. Slept OK considering heavy rain for most of night.
Next morning had early start. Again all mucked in to make breakfast and sandwiches for lunch.
Changed plans due to weather and headed off to the rainforest. Quite an experience sitting on bench at the back of 4x4. Bit concerned about back but survived. Rainforest walk was beautiful, took our time to appreciation all the different trees and listening to the birds. Next stop was Lake McKenzie. We decided not to go for a swim although many people were even though raining. Very pretty. Headed back to barge. Saw dingoes on beach and dolphins again as we crossed over. Really relieved to meet up with Moe and Chris and see them in good spirits.

And there is me thinking that Chris got bitten by a Croc or a shark but instead he fell over.
