Europe » Denmark » Region Sjælland » Praesto July 7th 2016

The last part of Sweden was spent driving down the motorway in constant rain. Crossed over a massive bridge to get into Denmark. After a bit of trouble getting parked in Copenhagen we succeeded due to Moe's amazing parking skills. Wandered around the central area stopping for a quick lunch at a noodle bar. Some nice old buildings, sculptures and fountains in the squares. Headed out in rush hour traffic but found nice site by marina just an hour south.... read more

Europe » Sweden » Halland County » Varberg July 5th 2016

Woke up late. Set off after bacon and eggs. Pleasant trip to Oslo. Satnav tried to take us into centre but crowded and issues with one ways so gave up and got back on main road. Made one final stop in Norway at service station and bought ice creams to spend some of our cash. Crossed over into Sweden with no controls and found a pleasant picnic site for lunch. Stayed on motorway pass Goteburg and parked up at simple site by sandy beach in Varberg. ... read more

Europe » Norway » Eastern Norway » Hønefoss July 5th 2016

Woke up to sunshine coming through the window. carried on with the trip. Initially upwards across another mountain plateau. Was surprised to come across some reindeer wandering aimlessly and then had the privilege to see a herd crossing the road. Temp dropped to 6 at height but went up to 22 at times. carried on through Gul and stopped at park by lake less than an hour from Oslo.... read more

Europe » Norway » Western Norway » Ålesund July 2nd 2016

After a nice cruise up the Fjord we arrived and set up in Geiranger for the day and night. Time to have a catch up on washing and chore's etc. Nice not having to drive as roads take a lot out of you through concentration . Views up the Fjord and around town are picture postcard stuff. We head of North in the morning along the Trollstigen road which is on of the top tourist must drive roads then turn South. Not sure on route back but I guess that's the adventure.... read more

Europe » Norway » Western Norway » Hellesylt July 1st 2016

Hard to keep up to date on blog as so much going on. Travelled to Flam and booked passage on Flam Railway. Amazing views all the way up valley with endless waterfalls and sheer drops to the left and right. Returned to motor home for dinner and a good night's rest. Up early and off to Aurland up another amazing road to a perfect viewpoint of Fjord. We continued up the mountain to a snow covered plateau. Our next stop was Hellesylt after passing a glacier and travelling through dozens of tunnels carved through the mountains. A slight delay of an hour whilst Dynamite explosion's took place to make improvements on the road. We arrived at campsite on the shore of the Geiranger Fjord and a picture perfect site for the night. In the morning we ... read more

Europe » Norway » Western Norway » Odda June 29th 2016

Pulled up in the town of Odda for the night after a great drive from Lysebtn. Tourist book says ugliest town in Norway. Bit harsh, it is a little industrial but quite pleasant. Stopped at the Odda falls on way down into town and quite a show due to latest rain. Sues cooking tea (makes a change). Two hour drive to Flam and the mountain railway in the morning. Prices a little steep but hey it's a holiday and a one off trip. Scenery still pulling punches and can't wait for tomorrow. they don't get many Brits round here so quite the celebrities.... read more

Europe » Norway » Western Norway » Stavanger June 29th 2016

Taken 4 days to get here travelling through Holland, Germany and Denmark. Arrived into Norway via Kristiansand. A two hour drive has brought us into Lysebotn a small village at the end of the Lysefjord. The 8km road in drops from the south twisting ever down and seems to go on forever. The landscape driving up can only be described as luna and simply breathtaking. The view from our van this morning invigorate's us to move on with a seven hour journey to Flam with possibly a wild night stop on the way. We will try to find time to write more soon. Later campers.... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » North Yorkshire » Settle July 2nd 2014

Tuesd ay 1 July Left Wick with plans to finish around Aviemore. Finally managed to see some wildlife, driving past a couple of red deer, seeing seals on the Cromarty Firth and then watching a dolphin at North Kessock Dolphin Centre (Inverness). Moe was on a mission to cover some of the hundreds of miles that the Sat Nav were showing to get to Bingley so drove straight through the Cairngorns sticking to the main A9 having experienced enough single roads. Stopped for a short break at pretty Pitlochry. Strolled around village and enjoyed tea and cake. Finally stopped at campsite near Glenrothes to avoid hitting Edinburgh at rush hour. Too tired to cook so after watching second half of Argentina match, walked to Balbirnie House, through the country park for a pleasant meal at the ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » Scotland » Caithness County » Wick June 30th 2014

Pub was good and after a few beers and several games of pool we retired back to the van for the second half of the football. Off to the Smoo cave first thing and an interesting tour by quite an eccentric local who made the small boat ride quite entertaining. A must do if you visit Scotland. From Smoo we headed off for the most northern point on the UK mainland at Dunnit Head. another long drive up a single track lane but again worth it for a rewarding 360% view of the end of Scotland. Sue was hoping to see some marine life but she left once again disappointed. From here it was only a short drive to behold the wonders of John O' Groats. As expected a tourist trap with tacky souvenirs and coffee ... read more

Europe June 29th 2014

Saturday 28th June Our meal was great so arrived for the ferry with a full stomach which turned out to be not a good thing for a rough crossing. Two and a half hours later we arrived in Ullapool an hour after we were scheduled so pulled up on the site in town and quickly turned off the engine. We awoke after a little lay in and after doing some washing we set off north. Our destination was a camp site in Clachtoll about an hours drive. The day would have been relaxed with a short drive but unfortunately I left my phone charger and battery at the camp site. After a round trip of ninety minutes we were back on track. The journey was exactly what we have come to expect with fantastic views and ... read more
