Me trying to slide down a sand dune
The board would have worked if we had some wax.... Blender Feet - This is my nickname. They are decieving shiny shells that are pleasing to the eye. Just when you think you have them figured out they attack your body showing no mercy. Oh yes...they will have their way with you like a hot knife sliding through pure innocent butter. I have about 5 or 6 slits on the bottom of my feet that are a mm away from needing stitches.
I was sitting in my tent, doctoring up my wounds....a tear silently slid down my cheek as they announced the following day would have lot of walking involved....
So Fraser Island was unreal. Our tour guides name is Alex. He was an absolute blast. The first day we rode through the bush, to the Northern tip of the island. The highway on the island is along the shoreline. There really is no "highway". Everyone just uses the huge shoreline as the main highway, this includes a few planes that use it as a runway. Our first hour we saw our first wild dingos fighting in the bush as we drove by. That was pretty cool. The rest of the time consisted of going on rain forest walks
vines show no mercy
Massive vines that over threw the tree that once stood there. Vines grow from the tree and take over their food source eventually killing the tree... and walking through huge sand dunes. We walked though the dunes in a line that made it seem like we were on some sort of pilgrimage through the desert. Tres cool.
We visited some really amazing lakes. One was crystal clear and had eels swimming along the sides, slong with fish and turtles. Our tents had 2 twin beds, a table and chair. Alex told us that there was a dingo and a python that liked to hang out around the camp area so when I woke up at 3 am needing to walk to the toilets, I wasn't quite happy....!
And then there was the champagne pool. It was really fun untill a huge wave dragged me to the oyster shell area of the pool. I got dragged over top of huge rocks with various natural razors poking up. I finally made it out and the looked down...it was sick...I was bleeding pretty bad and was feeling a little faint until Alex looked over at me and said (In the best Aussie accent yet) "Its all part of the adventure!!!!" I smiled. It was a great day😊
