Well, we are happy to report that we (and all of our luggage) made it safely to Australia! It was 25 hours and 6 airports from the time we left Calgary until we landed in Brisbane. The flight was long, but really not as bad as I was expecting. It would have better if our half of the plane had a TV! We had a few firsts... First time for both of us in Honolulu Vlad's first Mile-High Complimentary Beer (and his second, third, and fourth) Shilo's first time using an Air-sick bag for it's intended purpose. They definately serve their purpose well. When we landed in Sydney we realized just how strict the Quarantine rules are here. They spray the overhead bins with a chemical and you have to wait on the plane for 5-10 ... read more

Today was a pretty boring day. We had to be out of the beach comber hotel by 10:00. So we went to straight to the Yates house in the morning. Ben and will were at school so Sam and Lewis went fishing. Then mum, Jane, Dad and I went to the Robina shopping centre, mum and Jane went off on their own so me and dad looked around, had some MacDonald’s and went back to the house, as soon as we walked in the door, Rob and Lucy walked out, so we joined them on an EXTREMELY long walk. After that we came home and at 7:30ish the parents went out, we stayed home and relaxed. The parents came home at about 10:30 and we all went to bed at the Yates’ house.... read more

Today we over slept and missed a free meal! But mum and dad were pretty much ready so they went and left me and Lewis at home asleep. When they came back we all went to surfer’s paradise again but this time it was to go on a tall ship. We went out to an Island on a whale watching boat, which was fairly fast, and then ate on the Island, all of us went on an extremely fast speed boat and Then Lewis and I went on a peddle-o, not so fast! Then we got on the tall ship and ‘sailed’ home. But we ended up using the motor on the boat because there was no wind at all (well not much anyway!). We got back to land at about 4:00-410 then we had to ... read more

This morning i was awoken by dad! we got ready then at 10 o'clock, Jane came to pick us up to go to the airport to get our new car. Then (in our new car) we drove up to a place called 'Surfers Paradise' for a bit of good old Macdonalds! After that we went to Q1, Which is the tallest residentual building in the world! The lift went up to the 77th floor in less than 43 seconds (see pics). After Q1 we went to Surfers Paradise's beach! I had a good time jumping over big waves (and then falling over them!). Then we came home, had a shower and went out for dinner at a Thai Resteraunt. THEN we went to a late night zoo (at 7 o'clock) which was outside in the ... read more

We left Nimbin early in the morning as we had decided that we needed a bit of exercise after the past few lazy days. Half an hour’s drive from Nimbin is a spectacular post volcanic peak known as Mount Warning, Captain Cook himself named the mountain when he first discovered the east coast of Australia to prevent him from running into the coast. It is a huge very disguisable mountain that can be seen from all around this area and the sea, so we thought at a quick stroll to the summit would be a great idea to get the old heart working again and the shouldn’t be a bad view either. We drove to the base of Mt warning, parked the car and got some food and water sorted for the journey as we ... read more
