Australia bound

Wow! So I (cheers Mike) have been officially travellin' for 4 weeks. November 30th, we left Asia, and today is the 2nd December where DF finally hit Oz! Okay, we landed in Cairns and through the powers of the internet and facebook, we arived with a few Geordie friends.
DF's plan was always to travel 2864km (yes I have researched this) from Cairns - Sydney with a campervan. Surf boards on the roof, MJ on the iPod, a few stops via the whitsundays, fraser island, the gold coast, sunshine beach and the great barrier reef - pure bliss! In fact DF have re-named this trip 'the DF surf and sun run' ... but before I move on to the road trip lets go back to Cairns.

(You will notice a day by day blog has literally become impossible so once again, as mentioned before I'm sorry... sue me!)

Okay, Cairns, Thursday 2nd, and Friday the 3rd December we stayed in a place called Gilligans. A great backpackers hostel however, the 1,000 capacity beer hall meant sleeping was just not an option at all. We met some fantastic people and went clubbing both nights, and managed to watch a live band. To DF's delight Oasis did get played! (Wonderwall) Overall, Cairns is a lovely city, the esplanade which is a fake lagoon is a nice way to spend the day, yet anyone visiting, use factor 50....else you will look like a lobster. Just ask Scott 😉

Okay, my first two days in Oz has been amazing, yet hungover, and jet lagged to the MAX! Saturday 4th we managed to pick up the keys to the campervan (aka The Trurth) and the road trip has officially started 😊 Besides the beauty of Oz, the presence of the poisenous snakes and spiders, the odd shark and crocodile attacks, and to top it off its home to the world's deadliest creature - the box jelly fish, I do hope and pray I come out of this place alive ....
