ROADTRAINROADTRAINROADTRAIN

This is a medium size , the usual ones have four trailers.... over 56 metres long... allow a full kilometre to overtake!
We left Camooweal that morning to try to keep to our schedule of Darwin for June , July , Aug which are the winter months in Au, the temps range from the southern states is like this; Melbourne...Min: 3 Max: 11
Darwin........Min: 22 Max:31

Now we are giving ourselves away to say we like the heat, we love it, If i could alternate between the two hemispheres every year my life would be one long summer. Luckily for us we live in a country that is close to the Equator.

Back to the job, we left Camooweal and paused at the actual border for the obligatory photo with a leg in each state, we live on the edge, I have posted a shot of the Border but not of the risque behaviour, The trip across from here is around 500 ks give or take ten and it is quite "sparse" ,Now there's a word that conjures up a few images, for anyone who has been here they will have a knowing grin, for the uninitiated it can mean Bloody Hell' there is nothing but goannas kangaroos and Earth the whole way, precisely right!

We spent probaly the least

Yes, Imagine you and a pushbike and a litre of water...... GO RUSS
amount or time on this leg to the Three ways only for the reason that this isnt the place to push the limits on the water, They have a few tanks ,3 actually , on the road so as if you are dry you can top up your bottles and get a drink as for a tap ..ha.... and as for Jo washing her hair..... She just slapped me , that wasnt true at all.

We spent the night at a camp 24 ks east of Barkley Homestead and here we met our friend Russell. Imagine if you will us two setting up the rear gas burner for dinner, we are just about to put the food on when we look up and see this guy riding in Yellow tights, chapped lips, sunburnt face and a fully laden pushbike pull in to the rest stop. Well blow us over and hey, add a touch of guilt ,as i was earlier complaining that the Pepsi Max wasnt as cold as it should be. I felt pennance was due so we shared a meal with him and drank coffee with another two English backpackers as he told us of his plan

We love it, You can just smell the desert
to ride around Australia on his pushbike just because he could. Nice
Heres a vision:
The sky is black and full of stars and the only sounds out there are of a Road train in the distance rumbling along a dead straight desert highway. The owl s calland apart from that there is dead silence!!!!! It is fantastic to just sit and listen to nothing at all at 2 am and assess / reflect on your life and if you are actually enjoying it , and do you think of how good it is to be free?. I did that night in the Desert and i am glad to report that i had a smile on my face as i stepped back into Whywait to finish my slumber.

Well i will as usual let the photos tell of the landscape and we will pick up on the so called famous Daly Waters Pub next time.

Oh .... Cheers Gary...This ones on you
