CAMOOWEAL AUSTRALIA
Yes well for anyone not in the country and worse still not into music, !!! add the two for todays cryptic clue..... (country music) ..... Yes, Sara Storer is a great singer who spent some time here in this little border town ( QLD and NT ) it lies 212 kilometres west of Mount Isa another town we enjoyed, we must confess that the Isa as it is known, is a big mining town for copper and how slack are we ( maybe coal ). Quick Jo google search Mount Isa...lo

We can continue with our tour of duty in the Mount Isa region, look at the Information Centre for all of your 'made in china' souvenirs if you will or do what we did and go to the town lookout and check out the view. The place is quite strange the way it just sticks out in the middle of nowhere. Truth is that is is by no accident that it is here, Its been here for ages and they are chasing minerals and the dollars are there and its reflected in the ftown and its people!. The amount of money getting around here is huge, There is a

mind boggling amount of sportscars and big chrome laden four wheel drives.

We kicked around here for a few days doing the Underground hospital tour, an unused Hospital from the second world war it is totally untouched and as it was 40 odd years ago due to it being forgot about.

We also found the mining tour fantastic unfortunately my mental block prohibits me from sharing what the hell it is they mine here , One is copper.

Hey there is one who will never forget Mount Isa and that is our mate Jackson , there comes a time in every young dogs life that they are either whole or cut, He is the latter and the Boy isnt that fussed on the Isa or its Vets. We give it a resounding thumbs up and we pushed on to Camoolweal to have that beer in the Pub that Sara had told us to have!. There isnt much in the little township of Camooweal if your looking for bright lights.

As far as scenery and atmosphere Camooweal has it all, there is a camp site right on the river 2 ks west of the town, here you

will find campfires and level camps galore oh, and another 10 or so Coaster buses/ motorhomes and Wicked vans. It is a friendly camp and people will come over to your campfire to say hello and tell you of their travels and any tips they may have learnt along the way.

We were totally besotted with the sunsets over the cattleyards every afternoon at 7.45 yes it sets late in winter ( 500pm in Brisbane ) due to the curvature and distance. In Summary.... Thumbs up to Camooweal and Yes Sara we did have that coldie at the Camooweal pub and its something that we'll never forget, ahhhhh the memories of that day!!!!!!!!!!

Great Blog
I really enjoy your travel commentary. As an 'older' Canadian having done 2 separate 2 month visits, you are making me seriously think of another trip. May 3 months this time. Hopefully. Your comments have really intrigued me and I can't wait till you get to WA.
