Geo: -12.6712, 132.827Our journey through the wetlands of Kakadu took us through a number of towns and pretend towns that had distinctly Aussie names. How cam you not smile when you're driving through a town named Humpty Doo (and I don't think they understand what a great name they have- we looked all over for a town marker but had to settle for a photo of the local pubs sign)? Wouldn't you love to be asked "where are you from" if you lived in Humpty Doo? There were a number of other creative names like Mistake Billabong, Bark Hut, Jabiru, Bukbukluk, and so on that created a certain entertainment value to the long drive. The wetlands also gave us a chance to exercise our critter sighting skill sets- outside of possum road kill, New Zealand was a ... read more

Hey fellas, long time no see. I've to admit that i've been a bit lazy in the recent two months in case of writing my travel blog. But i had a great time and i will try to share some bits and pieces. So let me think what happened in the last two months. I made lots of new friends on campus :) and i'm finally practicing with the local bboy crew in Darwin. They are really great guys. Especially a big shoutout to my man Andy who is like a australian/chinese :D brother to me. He picks me up for every practice and try to push each other to the limit. "Yo Static, you'll always get up once more than you fall" If you read this you'll know what i mean. :) Ah yeah right. ... read more

Last weekend we went on an organized two-day tour of Kakadu National Park (pronounced Ga-ga-doo). Really beautiful place with lots of Aboriginal rock paintings, many that are thousands of years old! As per usual, there were plenty of "look out for the crocs" signs but our tour guide said it was safe to swim in this one location where there was freshwater and a waterfall! And we did loads of hiking. It was beautiful. It was rainy the whole time, which was great because it's much cooler than when the rains stop and the humidity build up starts. On the down side, the mozzies were full on (translation: the mosquitoes were very plentiful). During our hikes we saw a few wallabies hopping around -they are SO cool and we also went on a jumping croc tour. ... read more

Headed out of Darwin to spend 4 nights in Kakadu National Park. What a spectacular place...even if most of it has been closed because of the wet. We made the most of it though and did lots of walks and a bit more 4x4 driving. Our poor car! I wouldn't be surprised if it falls apart in the near future. Peter has had to borrow (permanantly) some wire from a caravan park to try and tie our exhaust back on to the car. There are a couple of hoses which get shorter and shorter as we cut the split bits off and re connect every few days. It makes alot of noises now but all things considered it has been a trooper. It is only a $5000 car! Our only complaint really is that the old ... read more

Deel 4: Zondag 18 sept.
