we Finally left for Uluruf from Alice Springs. Long drive there over 400km. We got there and were able to drive around it as well as climb it. It was spectacularly large!!! HUGE! even more amazing from a distance. We watched it while the sun set and that was very nice to get pictures of. we drove 300km back towards Alice Springs after the sunset. We stayed in the same rest area we stayed at the first time we tried going to Uluru. Got there late and flashed everyone our bights when we drove in...then Ty accidentally honked the horn lol. oops! We went to the Gorges the next day, we were planning on doing a big hike but it was pretty cold. We took an impulse helicopter ride which was AMAZING!! then we got a camping spot at the national park and chilled out for the night. The next day we did a small hike up to the lookout which was AMAZING yet again!!! Beautiful scenery!! We were told the aboriginals owned the land and they offered it to a white lady who helped take care of one of their elders, as well as taught the children. She refused, but
Tyler and I would have taken it!! lol. we hit the road after our hike. We got to Alice springs and replenished our food supply, Tyler got some Hungary Jacks haha, and then we were off. we drove and drove and drove and drove for the next two days! On the third day we made it to Katherine. We are only going to Kunnanara to find work. We are now two hours out from Kunannara and we stayed last night at a shitty roadhouse caravan park. pretty sketchy. But there were no rest stops along the highway with bathrooms. so we were pretty SOL. Today we are going into Kunannara and looking for jobs. Wish us luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today we made it to kunannara. Pretty nice town, surrounded by nice mountains. We walked around a bit and got to a job agency. We went and Tyler asked them about industrial mechanic jobs. The guy said that there were none around, and we would have better luck picking fruit. We went to the information to get a map of the town. Then we got a caravan site for the night and went to use our internet. Buttt Yes Optus does not work
in WA...hummm nice to know that now! geeszz we need to start asking more questions. So we buy some time from the park for 7 bucks an hour!! That highway robbery!!!! we get online for a few min and found some mine jobs and gave them a ring for Tyler. Someone told him to go down to a shop in town to fill out some forums; they could possibly have an opening. We went down there, but the guy said for the time we are wanting to work, three months ish, he couldn’t place Tyler in a mine job. it would take over a month for them just to train him. sooo he said they could possibly find work for him moving furniture... They will call if they find anything. In the mean time we go and register for fruit picking. We got to the butcher and pick up some steaks for supper 😊 yumm! and we go back to the park. When we get there I remembered I wrote a number on my hand for a caravan park looking for a couple to clean/cook at the park. Cool, so I try them and they said they would get the
ULURU! 001
Uluru!! Yah manager to call me back. She called back and asked what sort of experience I had in cleaning/cooking. Hahh all I could say was 'oh yah I have lots and lots of experience' hahah and then I was like '....and Tyler doesn’t ...but he is just as nice as me!' bahaha I sounded like a fool, and really I have no cleaning experience at all! just cleaning my house. ooops! oh well I worked at KFC for a bit so I know kind of how to handle food. She called back a few hours later saying that we could go up there tomorrow for a look and chat in person. Cool! I’m super exited! Kind of scared because I never asked what the wage was, and also because Tyler said he didn’t want to do cooking duties. so I feel bad. But it could possibly be free accommodation and a paying wage. We will see I guess. We miss home lots and lots. Flip has been working well up until here. He started sputtering again and burring black smoke. Tyler says he is burning oil like a hog, I dunno what to think about that. I just hope that we
can get some good jobs, get situated, and then sell this devil bitch of a van! hahah
