After being dropped off at Annies Place,
we had a walk to see what the town had to offer.....
Apart from it being too hot to walk too far,
there wasn't a great deal to see...
Didn't take us long to suss it out,
one street with the touristy things and a shopping centre in the next street.
Having gorged ourselves silly on much needed icecream,
we headed back to set about repacking for our 3 day trek in the outback.
Next on the agenda,
trying out the $5 specials menu at Annies.
We plumped for the camel shepards pie.
Mmmm tasty, we'll try that again sometime.... Then it was early to bed for our 6am pick up for the "Mulga's Tour"....
Bright and early a crowd of us set off with our tour guide "Leith" (a proper nutter)
But he knew his stuff. You just needed to watch out for his low flying banana skins hurtling down the bus. After several fuel stops and a beer stop later, we arrived at Uluru.
(The paper weight that holds Australia down) - Well that's what
And what's this in arrivals?
A dress made from egg shells!
Fancy trying it on Skim? a Kiwi told us and it did sound funny at the time.
This was it!!! Our 3 days in the bush, 2 nights camping out in swags, building camp fires, using bush toilets and of course the sights to be climbed.
Namely Uluru, Kings Canyon and Kata Tjuta.
Check out our photos..........
Having survived the experience in an incredible 45c (in the shade), we all headed back to Annies Place comparing tales of woe.
(As usual Skim came off the worst, in the mozzie bite count) And did we mention the night,
when a massive swarm of termites invaded the camp toilets and kitchen making them impossible to use.
Having checked them out the next morning, all we found were mountains of wings over every inch of the place.
I don't think any of us will forget that night....... With Leith our guide we had a celebratory meal and then headed off to Bojangles nightclub.
After queuing to get into this popular place....
It turned out to be little more than a spit and sawdust pub, but who are we to complain the
Just arrived...
Let's find our free airport pick up. locals love it...
