Ho Chi Minh to Darwin

Arrived in Darwin just after midnight, this was due to a last minute change in the flight times.
We were supposed to arrive at about 6.30am....

Our accommodation wasn't available till 8.30am.

So we had to hang around the airport for 8 hours - Oh joy, no sleep this night!!!

Thank goodness our rooms were ready when we finally arrived...

Needless to say, we fell into bed and were asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow.

Much later.....

After having checked out the well equiped kitchen, we went to the super market.

A 10 minutes walk......

It took us 30 minutes in the blistering heat.

Weren't we pleased to get there!!!!

But now we had to do the walk back!!!

Finally, we made it back.

Retired to our (air con) room with a box of cold beer. Well you do have to have something other than water to quench the thirst.

The next day, with only 3 days left of our stay we decided that we had to see some of the sights.
So loaded up with sunblock and loads of water, we ventured out into
Just wait..Just wait..Just wait..

Till morning anyway...
the 40c heat.

Started at Doctors Gully, a rain forest walk which was close by. (Well it was shaded)

Having managed that, we then headed up towards the coast which wasn't too much further.

It was hard work trying to stay out of the sun,
whilst trying to stay in the shade of anything from a tree to a blade of grass..

Bicentennial park along the coast offered great views and things of interest with an array of wildlife roaming around.

On we went until we found a way onto Lameroo beach,
as we'd been warned that the sea was full of box jelly fish we just sat on the rocks in the shade enjoying the view.

We recovered enough to venture still further up the coast.....

Finally, we arrived back to our room completely knackered some 6 hours later.
We could have done the same walk back home in a couple of hours!!!

Later that evening whilst sitting outside chatting to other guests,
we mentioned about us going down to the beach...

Only to be told - You're not serious!
Don't you know you're not to go within
Hey!Hey!Hey!

I think the sun is waking up...
12 metres of the sea because of the SALT WATER CROCS!!!!

Apparently they kill lots of tourists!

Me thinks, maybe they ought to make us tourists aware of that fact!!!!

Because of the unbearable heat and the lack of transport,
we decided to chill out by the pool with the other guests for the rest of our stay......

Keep out of the water!
Oooh, blinking 'eck: scary stuff! Perhaps you've got a gift like the horse whisperer. Maybe you're both croc-whisperers and didn't know it! Spinach is very good for providing shelter in hot weather: do let me know, as it is good for you, both inside and out. Drink plenty of fluids, and try not to look too tasty down on the beach. Don't want to attract the natives, now, not the saltwater ones, that is! You're missing floods here. Just thought I'd tell you that cheering news! Cheers, and enjoy the sun! Jane

Keep out of the water!
Yep staying well clear unless we see 20 other people in there. Then we'll paddle close to the shore. Steering clear of billabongs too, they say the fresh water crocs are fine - But who can tell the difference? Not us, that's for sure!
