DAY 377 There is never a dull moment on the farm, which is proven to be quite true much later today. Up at 7.15, and made myself a cup of tea as Helen and I are off to Wagga Wagga this morning, providing there are no more disasters on the horizon. We left early so that we could have breakfast when we got there. Helen needed to do a couple of errands first, the unused Wobble Box (read yesterdays if you don’t now what that is about!) went back to John Deere, the radio from the Header had packed up so that went into a car radio place for repair amongst other such chores that all needed doing. With a few things out of the way we went and had breakfast, it was a lovely little ... read more

DAY 376 I got up early again today, it was 7.00 Andy was waiting for Jason who turned up fairly quickly so I grabbed the freshly made cup of tea that Andy had made for himself and drank it. I am not expecting to do anything much today, except catch up on blog work and help if there is a little bit of running around to do. So I am washed and coiffed just in case anything comes up. I potter around doing a few bits and pieces, there are not so many flies to vacuum up today, they seem to be thinning out now, not sure why or if they will be back again any time soon, but we will see. Helen reappears and has some breakfast, we hang some washing on the line and ... read more

After three very entertaining weeks down the east coast I finally found myself back in Sydney needing to make a few decisions about where to go next. The original plan had been to head to Tasmania, maybe find some work in Melbourne and then go over to the west coast for a while. But part way down I'd started to have a bit of a rethink.... the timing of which probably coincided fairly well with my first rainy day and I began to question whether going further south in the middle of winter was one of my better ideas. In fact I was pretty convinced it wasn't so I cancelled my flight down to Melbourne and figured the rest would work itself out. In the mean time I had to meet up with Helen who was ... read more

Only 13 more days until the plane takes off from Melbourne and my dream adventure becomes a reality. Need to get through the next 7 days worth of swimming lessons (that little bit extra spending money) but the days are long and the nights are too quick. All those little last minute things like packing and repacking, getting vaccinations, trying to get a job, wearing in those new walking shoes need to be done at night time but am so exhausted the list of things to do just keeps piling up! Am planning to stay in this weekend so the list can be crossed off. Am enjoying reading Europe on a Shoestring (Xmas pressie from my big brother - Thanks Phill) and am realising that there is so much that I want to see that I ... read more

Blog 3 Tips on bush laundering and something else to look for before going toilet. Leaving Bathurst we head north , ( Tasmania has been put on hold until after Christmas when we will be heading south again to meet Norman in Melbourne Christmas eve ) to a small town called Hill End, it was here in 1873 there was a gold rush . A photographer recorded the growth of the town on glass plates which were only discovered in the 1970’s. the pictures are mounted in front of the properties to show what they looked like then and standing in family groups outside the occupiers. Where the buildings no longer stand there is just the picture. It is very interesting. There is an excellent camp site here, during the first evening we were visited by ... read more
