After a great, but brief time in Byron bay- we had our last over-night 13 hour coach journey (foookin' 'ell they are annoying!!) all the way down to Sydney!! Arriving very early on Monday morning- we checked into our hostel- Maze backpackers- on Pitt Street, near the central station. An ok place- kitchens, communal area etc... Our 1st day there, we wondered up to darling harbour- west of the city, went to the aquarium- pretty impressive id say- tons there- tiny beautifully coloured reef fish to huge, HUGE sting-rays, turtles and sharks, and YES- we found Nemo!! quite a few actually!! 😊 After the aquarium we jumped on a boat that took us around up to Circular Quay, which takes you round and under the Sydney Bridge- with the Opera house coming into view! The girls were loving it! 😊
That evening I took them to the lovely revolving restaurant where we had a nice 2 course meal, cocktails- and the spectacular views of all of Sydney!
Tuesday morning the girls did their bridge climb (i did it the last time i was here). SO over priced! But i would deffinately recommend it at least once- my previous climb
was the sunrise one- which was amazing! After their climb we hopped on a bus to Bondi Beach! Michelle was very excited - as a big fan of bondi rescue- she had informed me and Mand that she intended to pop the question to some lifeguard from the programe- unfortunately- we were there on his day off!! Doh!! There were many other nice lifeguards in action to look at though- so it wasnt a total loss! 😊
Wednesday- and we were off to the blue mountains tour. We had gone for the cheaper option out of all the trips- and you could tell! Our guide was pretty much brand new! Didnt really have a good rapour with us, wasnt the best communicator unfortunatly. We had fun none the less, stopped off at a couple of good spots- saw the 'Three sisters', ate lunch on a boulder rock over lookinga huuuuge amount of hills and trees! Saw a few wild kangaroos as well.
Thursday we jumped on the ferry and hit Manly beach- the girls had booked them selves a surf lesson, wasnt the best weather though- so that was a pain! Manly was pretty cool, small strip of
shops, clothes shops etc leading up to the beach, but i reacon id get pretty bored there after too long... Then in the evening- we were off to the theatre! Managed to get tickets at the Opera house to some random Lady Macbeth spin off- about a wife who is very unloved by her husband in a small village that she starts an affair with the cheeky new guy- and kills off her husband AND his dad by feeding them poisoned mushrooms!! Let this be a lesson to all men eh... hmmm... 😊
Friday- Sydney zoo!! wow- tons of stuff!! Chimps, kangaroos, hippos, elephants, girraffs (with a great shot of Sydney behind them- the opera house and bridge etc!) Lizards and snakes galore! Best part- Lions and tigers! Love it! and at the end of our day there- we watched a bird show- where the birds are so well trained, they had them coming out and perfrming right on cue! very well done!! Friday night was a goodun! We were invited to the 'sister' hostel over the road for cheese and wine (goon more like!!) night, and, as it was another Friday 13th, the theame was to dress in
bin liners!!! A bit unprepared, we went along anyway- and saw many people actually dressed in bin liners! All cut up and made into very prevocotive tops/ skirts etc... one guy managing to turn up in a Borat man-kini!!! not a pretty sight!! Im still having nightmares!!! So we joined in, and got a lass to cut us some stuff- and headed on down to Side Bar for more drinks and boogying-up pit street- bin-liners a-hoy! You can imagine the looks we had walking down the street! 😊 Fun times! Oh, and the DJ playing there- im completely in love with- purely as he was getting such good tunes out!!! Old and new- dance, garagy, pop- the works!! I wish Vic had been there!! Awesome!
Saturday we had a nice 'English breakfast'- although no brown sauce- grrr!!! and headed back to Melbourne- booking back into Flinders Station hostel!! Last bits of shopping for the girls to bring back home, night out round town! Sunday popped to Ramsey Street!! neiiiiighboouuuurs.... 😊 and bits and bobs- and Monday a sad farewell to my sistas as they flew homeward bound back to Londinium!!! 'SOB'!!
All in all- a fantastic few weeks
with my girls! I am now still in Melb, working away to save- as I definately have itchy feet to get around more- esp as the weathers turning here in the south- so im looking at heading west to perth with my friend Stef, then Darwin with Meaghan, and back to the east coast to lap up the beautiful beaches and sunsunsun!!!!
