Pancakes on the Rocks
delicious pancakes at darling harbor. I'm finally here!! Moved into my apartment this afternoon and it's AWESOME! I will take pictures and put them up once I get my room all set up, and if anyone wants to buy me a heater, that would be MUCH appreciated because once the sun goes down, my room turns into an icebox!! My apartment is SOOOO SO nice. Nice and spacious, 5 bedrooms total. My room is huge, I don't know what I'm going to do with all this space - and my bathroom is big as well! I have only met one of my roommates yet, but apparently they are all Asian girls. I thought I was going to be living with guys and girls, so I was a little disappointed at first, but then I realized that this is going to be an awesome time and great learning experience! And not to mention, I have been on an Asian food streak... so maybe they can help with that as well 😊 I walked around today to try and find the bus to get to the mall to buy stuff, went in 3 different directions and couldn't find anything, then got caught in the rain. So now here
New Friends
Ami, from Ohio (and my program) & Travis, from Toronto. I am, sitting at my desk with a nice big window in front of me and I can see a bunch of the other condos and for the first time this trip, I really feel like I'm IN Australia and staying here. Traveling around with a bunch of Americans kind of caused me to feel like I was on vacation. The campus is BEAUTIFUL, full of all kinds of trees and bushes, fields, ponds - everything! I have been so excited all day, even though I've been by myself I can't get this smile off my face!
Last night was AWESOME and has definitely been a highlight of my trip. My friends Ami (fm Ohio) and Becca (fm Arkansas) and I went to dinner on the harbor last night with a group of about 8 others. Becca knew one of the guys because he was friends with one of her friends from home (he had studied abroad in the US a couple years ago). So we sat outside and ate and drank for about 2 hours and had a BLAST! In addition to the 3 of us, it was my friend Travis (a guy I met in Cairns who
View of the City
View of the city from Darling Harbor is from Canada and was in Sydney for the weekend), a guy from North Carolina who had been living in Sydney for the past year working (who definitely picked up an Australian accent), and about 5 or 6 other Australians. Everyone was so outgoing and nice, and we were celebrating one guy's birthday, Brett, who is from Adelaide. So, of course everyone exchanged numbers and now I have friends in Adelaide for when I go visit! After that, me, Ami, and Travis got a bottle of wine and sat up in my apartment in Sydney and enjoyed the beautiful skyline with my roommates. Definitely a great way to end my time in the center of Sydney. Ami and Travis crashed on our couches, so this morning we went and got coffee and Travis and I sat in Hyde Park in the grass and hung out for awhile and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather. And now here I am! Happy as a clam 😊
