Hi Kara!!!!
OMG Kara! You are in such a beautiful place! Kelbs emailed me this website so I could check it out. Sounds like you are really enjoying it. I have not seen/talked to you in forever! I wish I would have gotten your id from you before you left! My life has been pretty crazy as well. I am in my second year of nursing school and I got two more years left!! This semester has been extremely tough as well. I work at a children's hospital here in Des Moines and I absolutely love it!! It was really nice to have Ben and Kelbs around! We got to see them a lot and we even went with Amara and kelby to this Halloween thing. I will have to send you the picture it is super cute : ) It has snowed over 6 inches the past couple of days, so I am really wishing I was by you in the warmth! Well, it was really good to read and see what you have been up to. We will have to get together when you get back. Loves from Iowa, your cousin Kiki P.S- The Hawks are hopefully going to a football Bowl in Florida so that'll be exciting to see them!! GO HAWKS!!

Still jealous....
Chocolate cafe sounds fab! A nice place for a date! :) And I'm still so stinkin jealous of you getting to go to the beach all the time! The pictures of Manly look gorgeous. Is the sun different there cause you look a little orange? Like Alex in London when he got the spray-on tan! haha (ok I'm just jealous your tan and I'm not!) Are there alot of fish places? I would think you could get some great fresh fish and seafood - yum! And start getting into wine with your food. Australia makes some great ones! Time for bed here. Still jealous of you in Sydney, Aus - love, Kelby

I'm all for stepping out of your comfort zone but "prohibited" signs by cliffs are there for a reason. Am glad you are ok. Good luck with the finals. love you.........

life is indeed good
Hi Kara, Good words from Kelby and the other international girl says ditto to her comments. Just had a conversation with my Peruvian landlady here in London and understanding a little more of South Africa as she lived there under apartide. So glad to hear of your passion for your major and praying for your direction in how to use it. A term at L'Abri would maybe be a helpful study time in working on your world view and how to apply it to your life. I would reccomend the English one! And as for us loud ~Americans well the noise level in London makes for quiet people since no one can talk that loud. Walked the Thames trail in central last night. Recalled our walk in central on the Thames and the guy selling hot nuts!!!! lol okay doing my duty and faithfull blogging on your site, you owe me on facebook and hold the photo's love from London, mom

Think......
Hi honey! Am so glad to hear you're continuing to settle in well. I am so happy to see that you are already beginning to challenge your own thinking as an American, and to re-learn and define what it means to be an American. But I encourage you to stand up and be proud of who you are, as an American, and to challenge other's comments about "americans". I find that most people have no concept of how big a country we come from and how that impacts life and our view of the world. I find the British visit New York or Orlando and judge the rest of the country on those two places. As you well know there are SO MANY other different cities and people in our vast country. And the passport thing.....well think about it. Alot of people in our country don't have a passport because they have no means to travel abroad. ITS EXPENSIVE! Look at how many of my friends have come over....hmmm...... Why spend money to get a passport when you can't even afford to go abroad, and you need groceries or gas instead of passport in a drawer collecting dust. How many people can't even afford to leave Chicago to see LA. Its makes me angry to hear people say those comments about americans, because I know so many people that would have loved to come see me in London but just couldn't afford it. They take such a simple, general perspective of Americans, but have nothing to base it on. How many people have gone and really traveled the states - not just gone to one place for a week - someone who has spent time in different cities. I think its such a blessing to learn from other people and cultures, and I think its our job to further educate them about americans, and help them learn from us too.!! HAPPY JOURNEY! LOVE YOU HONEY!
