Sydney/Hobart race
boxing day Sydney style Apologies for taking so long to get this posted. It really is dificult to find an internet cafe at the right time. When were in a rush there are loads of them when we have time we cannot find any.
While on the plane I told D as I saw it,2 dumb poms arriving in Aus who tend to think daddy longlegs are a serious risk to ones health.
So we made a plan, we were not going near anything with either 8 or no legs, that way we ensure a happy trip.
Sydney is a fantastic place, well you all knew we would say that! But it really IS. They seem to have things right.
We met up with D's sis Emma and her other half Rolf who both made us feel very welcome. We spent a week getting to know the city then we had Chrimbo with E and R hired a car and all travelled up to the Hunter Valley about 2 hours north to "taste" wine and get arse holed.
We hired a ranch style cottage in the valley and spent the days buying and tasting and the eves drinking. Fantastic.
This
all led up to new years eve. The radio said storms likely the boat looked tiny, Dionne looked worried, I looked more worried ( for anyone who doesnt know D gets motion sickness badly, the last time we went out on a small boat in the US she tried to jump out into shark infested waters to escape the feeling).
We were so close to pulling out but D being the brave one in this relationship decided she would cope one way or another, well what a good choice! the harbour stayed calm and the storm never materialised but the two shows (one at 9pm for the kids) was awesome, the whole harbour lit up for what seemed like an eternity.
Again cheers to Emma and Rolf for a great time!!

Hiya
Well Matt has said most of it but I just have to add my two penith worth!!
Well Sydney what a place I just wish it was nearer to home because I would be moving there. Its got everthing great beaches, brilliant restaurants, bars a very laid back way of living and very clean air because of being on the sea.
We met with my sis and rolf on the first day and they took us on a boat to the other side of sydney where we sat a drank lots of wine and ate seafood in a restaurant overlooking the sea, god it is such a hard life sometime te he he.
We spent the second day looking around the usual sites Sydney opera house which we did a tour of. We also went around the botanical gardens and there we had a very big surprise NO NOT a snake of a spider but wait for it flying fox's, massive bats (like everything in oz is big) but just amazing they where flying all around us.
We had a lovely time in Sydney with Emma and Rolf they took us to some lovely places and restaurants. They also introduced us to there friends which where lovely and very kindly made us welcome and invited us to there house for Christmas eve celebrations. Just to rub in to all of you back home in the cold and wet. We spent Christmas day in the park and boxing day next to the sea watching the sydney to Hobart race
and finishing of the day with a dip in the pool sorry guys but my god it was good.
Just to add to the alchol that we had consumed over the last week of celebrations we decided to top it up and go for a trip to the Hunter Valley and do some wine tasting. We said in a lovely cottage in the middle of wilderness with signs saying watch for kanagroos, snakes and lizards. Thankfully we did not see the snakes but we did see roo's and a kookaburra they make the most amazing sound almost like a monkey they are lovely birds and let you get closeish.
We set of for our wine tasting trip in the morning on foot first one great second one brilliant sat by the side of a lake and we all shared a bottle of wine third one well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all nearly got heat stroke, what to they say mad dogs and english man out in the mid day sun, well that was us, and not sure how far to go I was seeing a mirarge not of water but you guessed it a bottle of wine te he. It was hard work but hey we got to the winery and it was well worth it the wine was great the best we every tasted. I am not sure if that is becasue we thought we would never taste wine again ha ha!!!!!!!!!!
We then took a walk to the next winery over some fields they told us to watch out for snackes Matt being rather scared of snakes (he is such girl sometimes well ok all the time when it comes to snakes) he carried a big stick and kept on stomping this feet it was quite funny we just let him go in front and laugh and thing the snakes would of died laughing if they we had seen any. My sis saw a red back spider on the way which belive or not we took turns taking pictures of it only the english hey. We had a great time in the Hunter drank to much and had the most lovely food what else can youask for in life.
New years eve was just amazing a dream come true I have never seen anything like it they even had fireworks coming of the buildings and the bridge AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you are all well look forward to seeing you all in Feb.
We are in Melbourne at the mo and its 36 degress just a trifle hot and was the hottest night on recorld last night.
