The ferry accross from north to south island is meant to be one of the most sceinic crossings in the world and it did not dissapoint, it was freezing cold and the canteen was on a par with british rail but it was a nice way to spend 3 hours.

We blasted over to the west coast and ended up in this little one horse town (we had already gone through a town claiming to be a 3 horse town, very strange). And here we finally decided to eat out and it was our best meal of NZ. roast beef glugged down with local beer, top dollar!

We went on down the weat caost stopping in Te Anau and milford sound for 3 days before crossing over to the east coast and wending our way back to the ferry and back up to Aukland. 4500k in total and I only saw one speed camera which should have been triggered as I went through it at twice the limit while pointing at it saying ere look at that Dionne it looks like a .........fuck! Dionne was adjusting her knickers or something at the time and never saw anything! Women!

Unfortunatly D has worked out how to download pictures which means more of me in embarissing poses .....damn

Hiya

The south Island was just amazing some of my dreams came true. We went and saw the albatrosses nesting area. when we got there they were flying above us it was just amazing they have a 10 foot wing span. We then went up to the viewing area, they are sitting on the nest at the mo so could see them up close.

We also went Kayaking down an amazing river we had to drag the kayak up rapids it was hard work but so so worth it especailly when coming down them It was a bit scary at first but I well got into it and wanted more more more!!!!. I must admitt I was glad it was not Oz I was thinking there could be snakes in the water. Matthew decided to be all matcho he tried to kayak up a rapid DOH!!! it was a beep bit and he went right under the kayak. I was just so scared, it did add to the excitment!!!!

We went to a lovely little sea side town, were we went star watching one evening. Using a laser beem the stars and planets were pointed out to us it was brilliant. We saw lots of shooting stars and the milky way we also looked through a large telescope to see them up close awesome.

Milford sounds which is in Fiordland at the bottom of the south island was beautiful. everything I had hoped for and more. We took a boat trip along the sounds and were lucky to see 6 crested penguins, they are the rarest penguin in the world and are so tiny and very cute.

Well I hope you are all well and had a lovely christmas.

Wishing you all a very happy new year.

I would like to apologise for the over use of brillant, awesome, beautiful in the blog I just could not help it sorry.

Love
Dee
