Hello and many happy returns of the New Year to you all,
I haven’t been as busy recently but still have a few things to write about…
The meal for Lucy’s birthday was lush, we went to a really nice restaurant nearby and she had a sparkler from the waiter, how nice. In the day, we’d decided to go up the Sydney Central Tower, which is the highest building and has great panoramic views of the city. We had to wait a little while to get up due to lift problems, but there were some tables with pictures to colour in for the kids and me so I did one then went back in line with the girls. I noticed that there was a clown doing face painting so while the others weren’t looking, I sneaked under the rope and got ‘Happy Birthday Lucy’ written on my cheek. She loved it so got a butterfly and Laura had a balloon. Anyway, once at the top, we walked around then got in the queue to go down again…this took us an hour and a half!!!! As this made us late for the meal, we had to go straight there with the
face paint on. No one seemed to mind and Lucy did her thing and we got a refund from the tower!
The next day, Lucy and Laura left in the evening and began their journey for home. On New Years Eve day, I can’t really remember what we did, but in the evening, me, Clare and John went to a mini fair and fireworks display not far from home. Decided that the harbour ones would be far too crowded and expensive so just watched them on tv. We went for a swim that night, just before midnight and the water was lush!! We played marco polo which I’d never played before but is muchos fun - a bit like mama pui pui malvernites.
On New Years Day we went in the pool again and then in the evening I went out with Paul and some of his friends from work. We later joined his school friends for a mini party most of which I can’t remember - apart from wearing red sunglasses that were uber cool and I want!!
On Tuesday John and Clare and myself drove to Nelson’s Bay, about two hours away, where we spent
the next few days, going on horse rides, down toboggan runs, running through mazes and even a short boat trip which was very pleasant. The place we stayed was called Sahara Trails and is mainly a horse riding place but they have a few cabins to stay in. It was a gorgeous place and they had a border collie called Rex who was really smelly but cute.
So the last few days I haven’t really done too much - watched the whole season 3 of scrubs which I bought for Paul for Christmas, been in the pool lots and that’s about it. Paul has 3 weeks of holiday now so lucky him - he gets to entertain me!!!! Hehe, he knows he doesn’t have to really. Ooh - we bought a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of the Arc du Triomphe in Paris the other day and it’s sooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard!! But we’re getting there…very very slowly. Reminds me of Rhosneigr and the bridge puzzle guys!!
So, yeah, love to you all and I hope everyone is well.
Look forward to hearing from you soon - only four weeks til I leave for India!!!
Bye for now,
love Rachel Perry
xxxxxx
PS. Oh my god, how could I forget?!! My cousin Paul and his beautiful wife Babs have just had a little baby boy - congratulations both!!! They live in Holland as Barbara is Dutch and their little bundle of joy is called Stijn, pronounced Stine. He’s so cute so I’ll put up a photo or two.
I'd also like to add that we went to visit the family of Dave, Lucy's boyfriend and they were lovely. Dan, his brother took us to the greatest ice creamery in the world where they mix sweets in with your ice cream. I had skittles with banana ice cream. Yum!
Also - typo i last blog - pictures are magnestic Island and I said that I'd put ones of mission beach in, which I don't have. Sorry!
