The past two days have been excellent. Damn nice weather and lots of learning.
Started yesterday with nothing to do so I decided to head down to Coogie beach. I went before with mark and had a delicious strawberry banana smoothie. The picture of just my feet in crystal clear water that everyone is jealous of is from coogie.
Anyways, I met some guys who were australian but of Italian decent. The guidos are the same everywhere.. did I just say that?! Nah, they were alright, they buried their buddy super deep in the sand and I got a picture for him. I said id email it to him and he was all excited. Can you guess what hie email is? Ill give you three guesses.
1. Italia1001Grease@hotmail.com - nope
2. SUperGuido@hotmail.com - wrong.
3. Hot-Italian@hotmail.com - DING DING DING!
pfft.
After that I went back to my favourite smoothie place for a fine strawberry to quench my thirst. I was tlaking to a girl who worked there who ended up being from Nelson. My first question: DO you knwo Steve? SHE DID! How fucking weird is that. Im halfway across the world and I meet someone who knows good
Weather
This was the weather I was surfing in today. SOOOOO beautiful. Nice view of the city eh? old stevie.
I hopped on a bus shortly after this and went home in time to get ready for my first ever guitar lesson.
I got my stuff together and headed out with uncle mike who was quite excited to ahve another "musician" (if you can call it that) in the family. THe instructor closed the door on Beaming Mikes face with a "see you in an hour".
Long story short (I know, this blog is going to drag on.... I'll be impressed if any of you read it through), the instructor says im a natural. Whether it was to build my confidence or whether he meant it I will never know. But it felt nice to hear regardless of the outcome. Ill be playing "koombyah" in no time! After I headed home and practiced full of excitement and then headed to bed early for a surf lesson.
**INTERMISSION** Go get some popcorn or Junior chocolates and a large soda.
DAY 2. I woke up this morning to my ringtone which is set to 'rave' at 5:30 am. I had my INTERMEDIATE surf lesson at 7 and I had to be ther for 6:45. Mark woke up
Scenic
It was supposed to be a picture of the headland. What I got was a girl in the bottom left tanning nude. It wasnt intentionally I swear. Okay, so amybe it was intentional. But larry asked me for pics of girls. Ill get a better one for you buddy. Although I think its Illegal.... at the same time and he said he wasn't sure whether the buses would be on time that early so he offered me a ride. (I told you all, im spoiled!). It brought back warm memories of my dad waking up early and taking me to hockey practice. However, today, I wasn't sleeping in the car like I would on the way to practice... I was talkative and probaly pissing off mark. I WAS EXCITED!
I got to the beach by 6:00 so I had 45 mins to kill. Sitting on the beach it was already sunny so I put on the shades, took off the shirt and pulled out a book. Very relaxing. I finished my book by 6:40 (always a triumphant feeling!) and headed to the surf shop. The doors were closed. There was a note on the door saying the practice started at 6:30! grrrrr. Looking around I spotted a group of surfers wearing the red lesson shirts and dragging the big 10 foot boards down the beach. I booked it down to talk to him and he said there was nothing he could do, and Id have to reschedule. He told me to go back tot he surf shop at 8:30.
So, I sat down on the beach angrily and fell asleep, I guess I should have called to check the tides and figured out my surf time as they do change with the tides. 8:30 rolled around and I rushed to the surf shop to reschedule. Turns out, the fucking guy in charge of the place booked me wrong and thought I wanted the next wednesday for some reason. SO I kept my cool and said, "no, I wouldnt have booked it for then because Im not going to be here". I then managed to get into another beginner lesson at 10:30. So much for being an intermediate. I do have an intermediate lesson booked for saturday though.... that shoudl be good.
I sat on the beach and did a whack of nothing for a few hours until it was time for the lesson. There was a cute english girl and a cool guy from new york in my lesson. This was the best lesson yet by far. THe waves were low so I managed to get out to the green waves out back and hit some big ones. I managed to turn pretty confiodentaly and am almost always able to ride the wave. SOOO much fun; also I had some good conversations with Emma and Nick, the two previously mentioned. Unfortunalely, Emma was leaving the next morning to go up the coast and Nick was like 27. Hah, no friends yet.
After my glorious surfing, I headed for some food, Ive been eating Hungry Jacks everytime after surfing so I decided to go for KFC. Never again. First he asked if I wanted to "Large Size" my meal. I said, "Nah, whatever it comes with". That means no doesnt it? He ended up trying have me pay for a "Large Size". So I was very polite and changed it back to my regular size. SO I got my ZILLER chicken burger and fries and sat down. After finishing the burger, I wanted some ketchup for my fries. Looking around there were no dispensers so I went to the counter to ask for some. "30 cents" he says. See, I get mad when I ahve to pay 25 cents for sweet and sour sauce. Paying for a ketchup is absloutely ridiculous. So I did as any norlam person would do: I punched him in the nose, jumped over the counter, and took the whole tray of ketchup packages. I also grabbed a chicken breast for the road.
Actually I said, "thats ridiculous..." and sat back down to eat my fries without ketchup. I left a mess though! Serves them right, bastard pimply KFC shift manager Keith.
Ahem. I then took the bus home and that leaves me here writing my journal. Im now going to head out and buy a music book for practice for myself and one for mark as Uncle Mike wants to get mark into guitar as well. Haha, we shall see how that goes. I'll keep you informed.
Kudos to those who read it this far! Shows you care. *tear*.
Love Jeff
PS- I bought my ticket a few days ago to go up the coast with OZ experience. Its a guided tour for "young people" that goes all the way to cairns. IM EXCITED but i'll talk more of that later.
