After a couple weekends of catching up on house cleaning, yard work and marking, we ventured south to join other exchange teachers from around the world in the Shoalhaven area of NSW. Our weekend began with us heading south toward Sydney at 4:00 on Friday afternoon. We were in for traffic and we knew it! Unfortunately, the main freeway from Gosford to Sydney turns into city streets in the northern suburbs. We were stuck in stop-and-go traffic for nearly an hour before spotting our way out... the M7 toll highway, which took us the opposite direction from where we wanted to go but got us out of the city! Friday afternoon, we all piled into the car, packed with surfboards, luggage, food, beer and wine - Destination Manyana. 3 hours drive south of Sydney, just past the Sussex inlet turn off lays a little sleepy town called Manyana. If you have time there are some great stops along the way. Our first stop was at Werri beach just past Kiama where the boys managed to get a late surf just before dark. An hour later, back in the car we take the scenic route through Gerringong and Gerroa, turn right onto Beaches road heading back to the Princes Hwy and stopping at the historical town of Berry. I'm really not sure what is historical about Berry, it has an old charm about it and looks like its been around for some time. Classical style buildings ... read more

Apres une derniere journee a la plage (eh oui, on ne se refait pas), nous avons quitte sydney avec un pass de bus. Depart prevu : 9h15 du matin. Oui, mais c'etait sans compter sur le fait que les car intercity partent pile a l'heure, voire 10-15 minutes en avance, et que nous serions 10 minutes en retard!! Et oui, la cool attitude, ca s'attrappe facile! ;) Non, franchement, on y etait pas 100 pourcent pour quelque chose, surtout que pour une fois, ce n'etait pas Sandra qui etait en retard! (hum...) Mias disons que les embouteillages sur le pont de Sydney ont fait beaucoup (oui, on avait un chauffeur pour nous droper jusqu'au bus). Ceci dit, ca nous a bien fait plaisir!!
