Today we went for a paddle up the mighty Clarence River. We were a bit hesitant at first because the current was strong, in places, and it was mighty deep. However, we soon got used to it and relaxed and enjoyed it. It was a great morning. We saw fish jumping out of the water, lots of water birds - Pelicans, cormorants, herons and other Bird life. When we got back we visited the fish co-op and bought some fresh king prawns for lunch. It was just beautiful sitting on the edge of the river and eating our prawns....lucky us. During the afternoon we had a wander around the little town and I got some bargains in the Op Shop. After many months travelling, camping in Queensland. Morningbird and Littleflower returned home after their six month autumn/winter sojourn. However after being away so long, it is difficult to adjust back into civilization after going bush, tribal primitive for the best part of the year. Our adjustment plan was to drop down to Woody Heads National Park, Iluka, NSW for a few weeks of ease back into the swing of things. Woody Heads is our favourite local escape, many a camp over the years has seen us unwind and sit back and relax with max in this rainforest/ocean camp. 5:25 AM- BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP,BEEP, BEEP, BEEP ,BEEP, BEEP……………..BEEP. Finally Morgan was able to take the battery out of the alarm clock because apparently the snooze wasn’t working. Sigh, another long day lies ahead. 6:20 AM- STOMP, STOMP, STOMP…..shuffle, shuffle onto the Premier Motor Service taking us to a place named Iluka. 8:15 AM- DROP OFF- literally in the middle of a wooded area with one lone bus stop. HUH? Where are we? Clearly not in the cute town of Iluka we saw online the previous night. 8:20 AM-HMMMMMMMMMMMMM Guys, what do we do now? Where ARE WE? Shouldn’t the ocean be near us?
