Today we went for a paddle up the mighty Clarence River. We were a bit hesitant at first because the current was strong, in places, and it was mighty deep. However, we soon got used to it and relaxed and enjoyed it. It was a great morning. We saw fish jumping out of the water, lots of water birds - Pelicans, cormorants, herons and other Bird life. When we got back we visited the fish co-op and bought some fresh king prawns for lunch. It was just beautiful sitting on the edge of the river and eating our prawns....lucky us. During the afternoon we had a wander around the little town and I got some bargains in the Op Shop. Late this afternoon we enjoyed another beautiful sunset and we were lucky enough to have a ... read more

We are staying at Iluka for a few days. We were lucky enough to get a site right alongside the mighty Clarence River. It is beautiful. Iluka is a quiet sleepy little town. It has a golf course, quite a few caravan parks, a small IGA supermarket and a few little shops. It is a beautiful place surrounded by River, Ocean and National Parks. Steve and I took the local ferry to Yamba today. Yamba is a seaside town which is busier and bigger than Iluka. We had a lovely day doing the tourist walks and taking in the scenery. While we were there we had lunch at a little fish and chip shop. The ferry ride took about 45minutes each way and we were blessed with a beautiful warm, sunny day. Last night we were ... read more

After many months travelling, camping in Queensland. Morningbird and Littleflower returned home after their six month autumn/winter sojourn. However after being away so long, it is difficult to adjust back into civilization after going bush, tribal primitive for the best part of the year. Our adjustment plan was to drop down to Woody Heads National Park, Iluka, NSW for a few weeks of ease back into the swing of things. Woody Heads is our favourite local escape, many a camp over the years has seen us unwind and sit back and relax with max in this rainforest/ocean camp. The world heritage listed Iluka rainforest is special, because it is a littoral rainforest, meaning the rainforest extends right to the ocean. With its stunning array of rainforest species anchored in sand dunes, so rare, the only other ... read more

21-9-10 to 30-9-10 From Coffs we went to our favourite spot Corindi Beach where we had a great time on the beach & we looked at a few houses in parks for sale, still not sure what to do. We stopped at Grafton & saw Bev Dowell & Family, it was great to catch up with them. We then went to Iluka for a few days & it is a nice spot too, we took the ferry over to Yamba & had a nice day there. From there we went to check out Casino & the RV Motor Home Park, especially designed for over 50’s, they have houses for sale & you can also stay over night like a normal park. It is very nice, with a Pool, Golf Course, lots of things to do, Men’s ... read more

5:25 AM- BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP,BEEP, BEEP, BEEP ,BEEP, BEEP……………..BEEP. Finally Morgan was able to take the battery out of the alarm clock because apparently the snooze wasn’t working. Sigh, another long day lies ahead. 6:20 AM- STOMP, STOMP, STOMP…..shuffle, shuffle onto the Premier Motor Service taking us to a place named Iluka. 8:15 AM- DROP OFF- literally in the middle of a wooded area with one lone bus stop. HUH? Where are we? Clearly not in the cute town of Iluka we saw online the previous night. 8:20 AM-HMMMMMMMMMMMMM Guys, what do we do now? Where ARE WE? Shouldn’t the ocean be near us? Oh my goodness, is that a kangaroo? It is…….BO’ING, BO’ING, BO’ING. Cody, the smart hunter and our “asker of important questions” found out about a bus that could take us to ... read more
