Soo pretty!
Sunrise over Byron Bay Having had time to chill in the laid back hippy atmosphere that is Byron in the last few days, and not having been rushing round like manic tourists on acid, we have had time to ponder such life changing issues...
Australian mayonnaise is officially horrible. Tis not actually mayo at all, they must make it completley differently out here. Tastes like crappy Heinz salad cream which they invented for the war and forgot to get rid of. Ruins a perfectly good tuna sandwich. This obviously upsets Rozi greatly as she enjoys a good tuna sandwich. Steve however, is much more concerned about the Barbeque Sauce situation, as it is in fact Brown Sauce - as in HP. But if you ask for Brown Sauce they look at you like youve just arrived from outer space. And you cant get Barbeque Sauce like we have. Most confusing. Especially in Hungry Jacks - sorry, Burger King - where they are none too bright to start with!!!
Anyway...enough of Australian culinary conundrums. What have we been up to the past week I hear you ask??? Well apart from chilling on the beach pondering the meaning of life, we have been on a
coastal walk to the most Easterly point of mainland Australia, visited a crazy hippy colony on the eve of their annual Weed festival - better known as Mardigrass (whole town is completley bonkers, everyone is stoned and everyone tries to sell you weed, even in the supermarket), and we've been surfing again.
Yes - hurting for days was not enough punishment last time, so we thought we'd go back for more!!! Actually quite getting into this surfing lark, especially now we can stand up and mow other people down with our boards. The surf in Byron was much smaller actually and more forgiving than last time in Noosa, better suited to learners like us. Thankfully we were'nt in crippling pain for days after this time, although still suffered the inevitable cuts and bruises and Rozi got a face full of fish at one point, as a wave containing a whole shoal landed on her head!!!! Hilarious capers eh?
Ah well, suppose it is time to move our backsides off the beach and head towards civilisation... Sydney - here we come!!!
loads of love
Rozi and Steve
(Surf pros - obviously!)
