The start of my Oz Experience! Started yesterday 6:30am, hopped in the bus and listened to our tour guide talk about everything we’re going to do. Sounds like this is going to be a wicked trip. But it could very well get costly, I just paid $105 for one night food/stay/activities; but it was so very worth it. The group is awesome and the place we stayed is super cool. It’s remade to look like a mining village and the activities included a choice of night kayaking/horseback riding/Abseiling (going down a cliff on a rope)/mountain biking. In addition to be transported up the coast and securing accommodation the Oz experience also organises activities for backpackers to do. On this occasion the main focus (for 2 of the three days anyway) was surfing. The other day was based at a retreat in Barrington, a place that truly was in the middle of nowhere. Recent events had left me not in the right frame of mind by the time the tour started, but by the time we reached Barrington i felt better and began ... read more

On tour up East Coast About twenty on the bus Wine & Cheese tasting. I was thinking what luck it was for me and Nicola to have met at the hostel the night before heading out on tour on good ol' Oz Experience. I had a few reservations about using Oz Ex as opposed to using Greyhound but decided to go the super easy route and the little "extras" that you get. I was just worried about everyone being really, really young! But it is nice to have accommodations and buses and a bit of sightseeing all sorted out beforehand and it is awesome that Oz Exp is now being run by Australian Adventure tours. This all means they have been revamped. In my opinion all of the new brochures seem reminiscent of the Stray Bus ... read more
