The Luxor hotel where we stayed
We had a wonderful time in Las Vegas. We stayed at the Luxor Hotel and Casino for three nights, right on the strip. The strip (Las Vegas Blvd) was just like in the movies - big, bright, and always going going going. It was most impressive at night. At any time of day people were in the casinos drinking, eating, and gambling. We wandered in and out of all the major hotel and casinos; admiring their decor and grandeur. The MGM Grand had an exotic animal exhibit, and we spent one afternoon viewing the magnificent lions, tigers, and dolphins. The Bellagio was the nicest. In the lobby then have a skylight covered in multi-colored glass flowers. Our favorite part of town turned out to be Old Vegas, where we spent most of our time. The Casino's are older, the people are less pretentious, and the minimum bets and buffets are cheaper. Before arriving in Vegas we studied up on Blackjack basic strategy, and memorized it well. We were a little nervous to gamble/play at the tables with the disenchanted dealers and other, more experienced players, but we dove right in. We did great! We always walked away with money because we

saved any winnings. It was very fun. From there we drove right outside of town to visit the Hoover Dam. We opted not to pay $30 a piece for the tour, and instead parked and walked along the top. The sun was setting and beautiful on the endless amount of cement. It really is an engineering wonder. We walked up one side and down the other, taking pictures and trying to spot the fish in the water below. From there we entered canyon land!
